Wait, no cell service? like, none?

Answer

Yeah pretty much. Most carriers will lose connection about 5 minutes away from the venue. There will be wifi available in the lodge that is pretty fast, but we don't recommend planning to take any zoom meetings while you are here. We hope everyone takes the chance to get to know each other, there is a whole closet of board games in the lodge!

What should I wear?

Answer

For the Friday Welcome Celebration, dress like you're going to summer camp (because you basically are!). Comfort is key because we will be playing field games like kick ball and capture the flag. Denim, flannel, crew neck t shirts, stripes, tube socks and headbands are encouraged if you want to go all out. You will be provided with a bandana to style into your outfit for determining teams for the field games. The entire event will take place on the retreat center's athletic field, so keep that in mind for your shoe choices. It can get chilly at night, so a light jacket is smart. For the wedding ceremony and reception, dress semi-formal. Tuxes and gowns are welcome, and so are suits and cocktail dresses. The venue is in a forest without paved trails so you will be walking on gravel and dirt paths -- keep that in mind for shoe choices. Please don't wear white, but besides that, all colors and styles are welcome! We want you to be dressed in a celebratory way that makes you feel comfortable.

Can I get food at the Tierra Retreat Center?

In addition to the meals provided on Friday and Saturday night, there will also be summer camp style breakfast (eggs, pancakes, coffee) and lunch (sandwich buffet) served by our parents in the lodge on Saturday. Snacks will also be available in the lodge for the whole weekend.

What is the Tierra Retreat Center?

Answer

The Tierra Retreat Center is part of the Tierra Learning Center umbrella, which is a 501 (c) 3A community based organization fostering stewardship, inclusiveness and positive growth. It includes businesses and nonprofits such as the Mountain Sprouts Preschool, the Tierra Garden Organics 40 acre organic farm, the Coyote House home for developmentally disabled adults, and MF Pottery Studio. The wedding will take place in the Retreat Center, and we will have private access to the entire valley where the retreat center is located. The center includes a lodge with a professional kitchen, a yurt for yoga classes, a trail system, a meadow with athletic courts, and on-site suites. You will drive past the organic farm and other facilities on your way to the retreat center. Please treat the other businesses and organizations respectfully and stick to the retreat center during the course of the wedding. We will provide maps when you arrive.
