How We Met

"Haaaaaave you met Goose?"

Although they did not attend school at the same time, Goose and Julie met at Penn State University when visiting one weekend back in 2014. Goose was there for a wedding. Julie was there for a Singing Lions alumni event. They met at Bill Pickles Tap Room. Just as Goose was about to give up on meeting a nice "college girl", Nick Jaep saw Julie from across the room and felt the need to serve as wingman one last time at that bar. Little did he know that this would be the last time he was serving as wingman for Goose in his life. "Haaaaaave you met Goose?" Julie indeed had not but was certainly glad that she did. The rest is history!

The Proposal

"I actually didn't have to poop..."

Goose wanted to go on a picnic at 12pm on Sunday, July 15th, 2018. Julie did not find the specificity of this idea odd at all. Julie's mom basically forced her to get a manicure the day before despite the fact that Julie never got manicures. Julie did not find the imperativeness of her request odd at all. Goose and Julie had a lovely picnic on the waterfront at Pier A in Hoboken. When Goose was finished eating, he said that he really had to use the restroom and it was an emergency (being polite here, he actually said that he really had to poop). Julie offered to accompany him to Dunkin Donuts but he was adamant that Julie stay put. Julie did not find this odd either. In retrospect, she should have found all of this odd. However, Gustav was not going to poop. Gustav was going to the PATH to retrieve the photographer so that she could document his proposal to Julie. When he returned, he got down on one knee and asked Julie to be his forever. She cried (a lot) and said yes!

Decision Time: The Wedding

"A destination wedding? Seriously guys?"

When it came to discussing when, where, and how we'd actually do a wedding, it was a tough decision for us. We have been talking for years with our respective friend groups/families about doing some kind of vacation together. We figured, what better excuse than a wedding? We will have all of the people we love in the same room (or same rooftop bar on a beach in paradise, same diff) and the fun doesn't have to end there. We will be able to spend a few days with all of our loved ones while celebrating our own love. We picked Excellence El Carmen because we absolutely love the service at the Excellence Resort brand. The food, the drinks. the service, and the resort are top of the line. We selected a date in 2020 so that we could give guests a bit more time to budget for this occasion. We selected you to come celebrate with us and we are so excited to celebrate with you!
