Maid of Honor
Meghan and Katie met at Ladies Happy Hour group in Washington DC in 2013. They quickly ditched the group and started a beautiful friendship built on a strong foundation of scuba diving mishaps, tropical travel destinations, pool days and wine. When Meghan moved to LA, the wine nights turned into marathon telephone conversations, and in 2018 Katie followed suit and joined Meghan in the Golden State. She is partially responsible for at least one near death experience, and fully responsible for many amazing years of laughter, joy, and incredible friendship.
Best Man
What began with a series of unsupervised trips to New York City's Nokia Theater in Times Square, Nick and Alex have been adventuring and building memories together for almost 15 years. After countless concerts, festivals, and trips to each other's respective cities, Nick and Alex's friendship remains as strong as ever. Now living in the San Francisco Bay area together (their first time in the same city since 2006), they continue to share a love of technology, music, and the outdoors.
Bridesman
Max is one of Katie's oldest and best friends. They met at Cary Academy in the 7th grade, and have been close ever since. Their friendship has consisted of more than a decade of music festivals, amazing halloween costumes, and constant support and friendship. From digging cars out of New England snow storms with dinner plates, to New Years celebrations, to midnight concerts at Bonnaroo, the two have made countless memories with no end in sight.
Groomsman
Ilya and Nick first meet in 2009 at UVA when they lived next-door to each other. However, their relationship didn't really blossom until they both moved to Washington D.C. together after graduation. Living together in D.C. for four years, they quickly became as close as brothers. Ilya is like a magnet. He has a glowing personality, pulling in all those around him to share in the sheer joy of life. Nick was no exception.
Bridesmaid
Holly and Katie met at Mason Law (#ASSOL). They were fast friends and formed a dream team study group that resulted in the graduation of all its members. They moved in together in 2015, and spent several months watching chick flicks and hanging out on the rooftop of their apartment building. In 2015, because life balancing an old dog, dating, law school, and jobs was not hard enough, Holly convinced Katie to take the plunge into puppy ownership, and can be credited largely with the addition of a lot of love and a huge red dog to the family.
Groomsman
Nick and Austin have been close friends since 2008, when they were students at UVA. Living together for two years at school and two more years in Washington D.C., they quickly built a life-long friendship. Nick and Austin have stayed in touch since school, and both share a love of business, the outdoors, and of course, shredding pow on the reg. Austin's passion to leave the world better than he found it has always really impressed Nick, even if it meant leaving a trail of broken hearts behind him along the way.
Bridesmaid
Tatiana met Nick first at Harvard Business School, and Katie shortly after. They became quick friends, and when Katie moved to Boston commenced a regular happy hour schedule. They started taking group trips everywhere from Maine to Chicago, and have a mutual love of feminist literature and the outdoors. Tatiana has been an incredible friend and support to both Katie and Nick through the ups and downs of business school, and now calls Seattle her home.
Groomsman
Alan and Nick first laid eyes on each other in a sweltering Dunnington dorm in Charlottesville, VA, sometime in late August 2006. Only moments later, when Nick spotted Alan's cherry red Gibson SG and smiled, did the pair knew they would get along just fine. Nearly ten thousand dollars in Phish concerts later, the two remain inextricably linked through the sheer power of rock 'n roll. If you have trouble spotting Alan at the wedding, look for the tie-die.
Bridesmaid
Ellen is a UVA friend of Nick's, and met Katie when she started frequenting 3520 in Arlington. Through a series of bonfires, baseball games, group dinners and shows they built a great friendship. Ellen is single handedly responsible for preserving the engagement surprise, and was an MVP of the weekend for coming to the party while pregnant with baby Bella. She has been an amazing friend to both Katie and Nick through their entire relationship, and realized that they were going to get married long before they figured it out!
Groomsman
Alex and Nick have been great friends since the UVA days, but have grown even closer since then - a frequently quoted trip to Europe in 2012 with Mr. Murray yielded a bond that could never be broken. Now living in the San Francisco Bay area together, they frequently gather to both relish in the serenity of the California lifestyle and engage in heated debates on politics, technology, society, and where to find the spiciest Twitter memes.
Bridesmaid
Sara Creevy is Katie's sister, and the two have shared a lifetime of memories. She is a caring nurse midwife, and is dedicated to helping those in less developed parts of the world gain access to better health care. She has also been a fixture in Katie's life from day 1, and has helped her navigate every part of life no matter what the challenge.
Groomsman
Nick met Justin in line for one of the first parties at Harvard Business School. "Hey, you're in my section, can I jump in line with you?" Nick asked. "Sure," Justin replied. And thus, a friendship was born. Countless experiences and 3 years later, two things about Justin stand out in Nick's mind: his relentless thirst for adventure and fun (ask about Jackson Hole, downhilling at Sugarbush, or setting palm frawns on fire in Eleuthera), and his ability to put Nick to shame in any video game (except Smash 64).
Bridesmaid
Amy, while technically Katie's niece, grew up with Katie in Raleigh, and both attended Cary Academy. They share a love of brunch, mimosas, and dogs, and have spent more than one Holt family holiday giggling at the mishap of that year. Amy has been the semi-professional makeup consultant for the event!
Groomsman
Dan and Nick's friendship goes back further than either of their respective memories. The moment of first contact remains unknown to this day. Was it Kindergarten? Cub Scouts? The world may never know. Since then, however, countless unforgettable experiences have been shared. Dan and Nick are a great example of how opposites attract. Dan is a man steeped in knowledge of philosophy, art, and the humanities, while Nick has always been intellectually rooted in math, science, and technology. Over the years, their shared curiosity about the world and craving to always learn more and be better has kept the two from ever going too long without a thoughtful conversation that left both men with a fresh perspective. Also, burlesque.
Reader
Brian and Katie met at Elon in 2009, and Nick shortly after the two started dating on one of their NYC trips to see Phish. They have continued a friendship despite the distance, and he remains a dear friend of both Katie and Nick.
Groomsman
George and Nick are first cousins and have been laughing together through family gatherings since early childhood. Separated by less than a year in age, their relationship feels more like one of siblings than one of cousins. Nick has always admired George's ability to be authentic in how he chooses to spend his time and live his life. Ironically though, even as Nick lives in Silicon Valley, the entrepreneurship bug bit George first! He's been spending his summers building a business leading groups of kids and young adults on outdoor excursions into the wilderness. If you can't find George at the party, he may be running a quick lap around the block.
Reader
Katie has known Andrew since early childhood, and the two have remained friends for almost 25 years. Andrew will be reading a passage special to the couple during the ceremony.
Officiant
Chris is Nick's uncle and Godfather. He is a very special person to both Nick and Katie, and the couple is excited that he will be officiating the service. An avid wine lover, look for him to guide you on your wine choice during the party. He'll also probably the person laughing hysterically with his sister Meg, the mother of the groom :)
Singer
Laura has been a close friend of Katie since their time together at Elon. Since then, Laura has come to know Nick very well through the couple's various trips to NYC. Laura is a professional musician and will be performing a song in honor of the couple during the ceremony.
