As many of you may know, we have known one another for years and have been close friends. One day we realized: wow. We both thought one another were wonderful people but what we didn’t know is 1.) We’d fall madly in love. 2.) We are each a replica of one another, just in male and female form. It was scary for both of us at first for fear of ruining an already great friendship but we have zero regrets and truly have a beautiful love story. We are so blessed to be surrounded by all of our loved ones as we celebrate our union in marriage.
Let's start by saying that Sara had NO clue that Grey was going to propose. We had talked about getting married and agreed we wanted to but with no timeline. Sara surprised Grey with EDC Las Vegas tickets for Christmas 2018. Little did she know that he had wanted to propose to whomever was his soulmate at this particular festival... which makes this love story even better. Sara picked that not knowing and Grey knew at that moment that he would propose. It was a very fun festival; very cold and hard to sleep. Grey wanted so badly to propose to Sara on the ferris wheel but the weather put a damper on that and every time we tried to go on it (5 times) we were rejected due to wind. We camped at this festival for 5 days and on the last day we were so ready for a shower and a real bed. But Grey was determined to propose where he wanted to. So in our tent, all packed up and ready to go, Grey stopped for a second. He stared at Sara for some time and she asked him if he was okay. He said yes, just give me a second. He then slowed danced with her and got down on one knee and proposed. Sara did her usual reaction and cried but of course said yes. It was the happiest day we have ever had thus far... but we are sure our wedding day will top it.
As you all know, nine days before our big day we had to make the difficult decision to postpone the large celebration for another time. We did, however, choose to get married on our intended day at 5:00 pm in a beautiful backyard ceremony. We laughed, we cried, we socially distanced, and two best friends shared private vows in front of parents, grandparents, and siblings. We had champagne, cut a small cake, opened a few gifts and stayed at the Casa Monica hotel and didn't see a single person after we left our small ceremony. It was a beautiful day and while we wish we could have shared that with you all, it ended up being an intimate moment we will remember forever. And now... we get to have the dance party!
