Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Stephanie Cortez and Bryan Hernandez
Even the most ambitious travelers have difficulty exploring all of Mexico City, so you should carefully plan your free time. Below are some suggestions of our favorite things to do, see, and eat in CDMX along with content to get excited. Enjoy!

Mexico City Content

Things to watch and read to get excited for the trip! Netflix Somebody Feed Phil - S1, Mexico City episode Chef's Table - V2, Enrique Olvera Taco Chronicles - VI, Canasta & Pastor episodes Roma A Tale of Two Kitchens NYT 36 hours in Mexico City

La Condesa

La Condesa

Our favorite neighborhood. Tree-lined boulevards with stylish sidewalk cafes, trendy international bistros, hip boutiques, and casual taquerias dot the area. Stroll through Parque México, one of the most attractive urban gardens, which houses a ton of Art Deco and is extremely dog-friendly. At night, bars welcome a young "hipster" crowd where you can find anything from a quiet cocktail on a terrace to a lively cantina. Recommended: Maque, Lardo, Taqueria El Califa, El Tizoncito, Tortas al Fuego, La Clandestina, Baltra Bar, Churrería El Moro, Chilpa, Pasillo de Humo, El Pescadito, Condesa Tianguis (Tuesday street market).

Roma Norte

Roma Norte

Gritty around the edges, Roma is easily the hippest neighborhood often considered the "Williamsburg" of Mexico City. A mix of old-time residents and youth culture, reflected in its 19th century mansions, quirky art galleries, busy markets and hip cocktail bars. Cruise the lively Avenida Álvaro Obregón for boutiques, coffee shops, taquerias, and nightlife. Recommended: Em, Mercado Medellin, Taquería Álvaro Obregón, Mercado Medellín, Rosetta, Panadería Rosetta, Milk Pizzeria, Taquería Orinoco, Galanga Thai House, Mercado Roma, Mariscos "Mi Compa Chava", Contramar, Félix, Eno, Supra Roma, Xaman Bar, Loup Bar, Maison Artemesia.

Polanco

Polanco

Upscale neighborhood with luxury shopping and international restaurants lining Avenida Presidente Masaryk often referred to as the "Beverly Hills" of Mexico. Leafy side streets host Spanish colonial revival mansions and luxe apartments. To the north, Nuevo Polanco features modern architecture, including the futuristic Museo Soumaya. Great for shopping and dining among a posh crowd. Recommended: Pujol, Taqueria El Turix, KYU México, Licorería Limantour, Gin Gin.

Coyoacán

Coyoacán

An artsy, colorful part of the city with cobbled streets that seems to have stopped in time. The Frida Kahlo museum is located here alongside local artisan market, Mercado Coyoacán, where you can find handmade goods and delicious food. Recommended: La Casa Azul, Museo Diego Rivera Anahuacalli, Tostadas (anything really) at Mercado Coyoacán, Los Danzantes, Cafe El Jarocho.

Mexico City Historic Center

Mexico City Historic Center

Bustling city center with amazing architecture and history. The streets are lively with vendors and small restaurants. The center is known for shopping and historic landmarks including Palacio de Bellas Artes, Catedral CDMX, Templo Mayor, City Square (Zócalo) and government buildings. Recommended: Azul Histórico, El Cardenal, Bósforo, Pastelería Ideal, La Casa de Toño.

Castillo Chalputec

Castillo Chalputec

Lush gardens larger than Central Park with a castle? Say no more! Roam the park and explore the only castle in North America that housed royalty and Mexico's presidents until 1939. Visit The National Museum of Anthropology, the largest and most visited museum in Mexico, home to artifacts from Pre-Hispanic history.

Teotihuacan

Teotihuacan

The pyramids you've probably googled a few times. The drive is about 1.5 hours each way from the city center by bus or Uber, so plan accordingly as this is a full day trip.

Arena México

Arena México

Catch a Lucha Libre aka Professional Mexican Wrestling match! One of the most colorful sports shows in town. Buy tickets direct from the box office or online via Ticketmaster.com.
