Question

Should I order pesos from my bank before traveling to Mexico?

Answer

It's up to you! You will need pesos for street food vendors, artisanal market shopping, and tips. You can order pesos from your preferred bank (call or order online) and pick them up from your local branch within 2-3 business days. You can also withdraw a modest amount of pesos in Mexico from an ATM attached to a bank (for a small fee). Ask your bank what their sister or affiliated branch is in Mexico to avoid transaction fees. Of course, major credit cards are accepted throughout the city. Be sure to use a credit card that doesn't charge a foreign transaction fee to save money and get the day's exchange rate.
