When we first started dating, we told (nearly) everyone that we met at a bar during a night out. We've come clean over the years, and the truth is out: We met on the dating app, Bumble. In typical Sidney fashion, she took control and messaged me first. After a few weeks of messaging through the app, Sidney (again) made the first move and asked me if I wanted to grab a coffee. After a prompt and enthusiastic yes, Sid promptly changed the venue to The Boot, a well-known New Orleans watering-hole. I later learned that "coffee" was a test to see what kind of guy I was. When I walked into that bar at 5:00 on a Saturday afternoon, I could not believe that the beautiful blonde sitting alone at the end of the bar was here to meet me. What came next was the best first date we'd ever had. After a drink at The Boot, we bought a six-pack of White Claw and Sidney took me to the Fly, a local park right on the Mississippi, to watch the sunset. Then came dinner at the Chill Out Cafe (the best BYOB Thai/All-Day American Breakast place you've never heard of), and 6 hours after we first met, we shared a final beer (Abita Purple Haze) at Bruno's. Sidney grabbed the glass on the way out and we still have it to this day! The very next day, we met at Starbucks to do some work together and the rest, as they say, is history.
