We met while I was working at Alpine bank. I was a teller at the time. It was a very busy day and I had a long line of customers I was helping. Once it was Teague’s turn, he decided it was a good idea to ask me out in front of EVERYONE. My customers and co-workers! He said “I saw you the other day and thought you were a very pretty, independent woman. I was wondering if I could take you out on a date to get to know one another”? I have never blushed so badly in my life. So, I wrote my number on the back of his receipt and here we are almost 9 years later.
For a month or so, Teague and I had been getting ready to move into our new home. It was about time for our yearly trip to Minnesota and we were going to take the skis and boat out of the water for vacation. So he says “Once we take the boat and skis out for vacation, we won’t be putting them back in because we will be moving when we get back.” I just agreed. He then said “I’m going to go on one last boat ride from our house.” I told him that was fine. He was like “It won’t take long, do you want to go?” This was funny because we went back and forth a few times about going out on the boat because I didn’t want to get the boat off the lift for a few minutes just to come back. Yet, I ended up going. It was a very beautiful day and there was a nice breeze. He took us all the way down near the dam. He was staring off into the distance admiring our building (so I thought) and I thought he looked so peaceful, so I grabbed my phone and snapped a photo. He then gets up and says “Tierra…..” I thought he was just talking about life like we sometimes do. So many things were going through my head at this point after about 10 seconds of him talking. I literally had NO CLUE if it was happening. I kind of froze. He was at the front of the boat, got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I got up immediately and hugged him and said “YES OF COURSE .” I did not even pay attention to the ring at first and then I looked and he has taken a ring out of my jewelry box to promise with because he said he wanted to take me to pick one out. He said he tried to pick one out but ended up deciding to take me to get one designed. I could not tell you everything he said to me that day because I was in shock. It was very emotional, a good emotional. We literally just sat on the boat for a few minutes, hugged and cried a bit together. It was such a great feeling that I cannot put into words. I will replay and cherish that moment for the rest of our lives. We are very grateful for one another. We are so excited to start the next part of our Journey with all of you. See you next June!
