ALL WHITE ATTIRE
The Gaye Holud will take place at our house. Please text TJ or Sumaya for their house address. Thank you! Gaye Holud (yellow/turmeric on the body) is a blessing ceremony observed in Bangladesh (where Sumaya is from). Newlyweds are believed to be vulnerable to misfortune and the evil eye. Turmeric is considered antiseptic and purifying. It also gives a golden glow to the skin. Turmeric, along with some other ingredients are put on colorfully decorated bamboo trays for performing the ceremonial rites. The mother, grandmothers and other elderly relatives apply a dab of turmeric on the bride and groom and offer sweets!!
