As of May 15th, Virginia will be allowing up to 250 people at outdoor gatherings, which is more than enough to host all of our guests -- we are very excited to be able to celebrate at both the wedding and reception with everyone!

TJ and Kira met in August 2013 when Kira moved into Hillside Hall as an RA and TJ was her Hall Director. Their senses of humor and movie interests had them spending more and more time together and even though their relationship was against the rules, Kira and TJ couldn't help but fall in love quickly that year!

TJ finished up grad school at JMU in 2014 and moved back to Binghamton, NY. They spent two years traveling from VA to NY and two more years between NY and NH while Kira was in grad school (and even a brief stint of AK-NY!). They have made the most out of short weekend visits and vacations that were never long enough, but after 5 years of long drives and sad goodbyes they were thrilled to finally start their lives together in Washington, DC!

On January 23, 2019 Kira was offered her first job out of grad school and decided to make a spontaneous trip to NY to plan with TJ what was next for them. TJ had gotten Kira's ring that same day and hadn't planned to propose that weekend, but realized that this was his chance! TJ went to great lengths to hide his intentions, like plotting with his Mom to casually suggest our hike location and placing the ring box strategically in his jacket. TJ and Kira drove up to Ithaca, NY to hike at Robert Treman State Park where they had gone on their first "official" date after JMU. TJ and Kira hiked through thick snow on a freezing day in upstate NY. Kira wanted to meander through the hike and take pictures of icicles and waterfalls but TJ kept insisting that they race and hike faster. Little did Kira know, TJ's brother Sean and his girlfriend Melissa were waiting at the park entrance to capture the big moment on camera! TJ kept texting Sean to coordinate location and timing, all the while Kira grew more frustrated that TJ was on his phone! They finally arrived back at the car and TJ suggested they go look at the big waterfall on another short trail. They walked over the icey trail towards the waterfall where Kira again was distracted by a cool rock formation. Finally at the falls, TJ gave his speech and popped the big question! Sean and Mel emerged from their hiding spot and everyone celebrated!

TJ and Kira finally ended long distance in August 2019 and moved into their first apartment together in DC. After a career shift for TJ, they moved across the river into VA where they enjoy more trees and birds outside their windows. 2020 has been full of curve balls and challenges but they are happy to be facing them all together.
