They were right for one another right from the beginning, at least according to their right swipes on one another. Yes, Chris and Abby met on the infamous Tinder app. Chris chose his words wisely when he asked Abby, "I see that you studied abroad in London. What was your favorite thing about London?" Abby couldn't just be simple, no she had to respond with, "Well there were a lot of things I loved about London: the food, places, adventures, etc. I'm going to need you to be a little more specific..." They both rolled their eyes and sent some more messages. They even exchanged numbers. After throwing one another (mainly Abby) some curve balls they decided to meet up for dinner at Chili's. It was fate that they even made it to the date. Abby was recovering from being sick to her stomach and Chris was trying to survive teaching teenagers how to march in the sweltering Texas August heat. But never the less they persisted: she put on enough jewelry to fill a store and he took the fastest shower in human history and met in the city that is formally known as the tomato capital of the world - Jacksonville, TX. They sat across from one another in a booth, not touching much of their food (for various reasons) and talked the night away. The staff of Chili's let them continue to talk even though they had been closed for forty five minutes. Abby came home that night and told her mom, "I'm not saying he's the one...but I think he's the one..." And so the two went on a few more dates and the rest is history. He found the right Gearle and now they're Downs to be together forever.
It was a beautiful December afternoon. Abby had spent the morning singing Christmas songs with kids at work and Chris spent the day chilling and relaxing on his first day of winter break. She was eager and excited to meet Chris because they would soon be on their way to meet his grandma. He too was eager to see her but because he was planning something else. She texted him she was heading towards his place and would be there in thirtyish minutes but Tyler traffic made it forty five minutes. When she got to his place he had the same winning smile he had when his students won the 4A UIL State Marching Band Contest. She came in to all the cards and gifts she'd ever given him laid out in a line leading to his room. They took a slow stroll through memory lane reflecting on all the happiness and adventures they had shared in the last year and half. At the end of memory lane there was a piece of paper that said, "And one more!!" Abby stood their waiting for her gift, thinking that it was in the closet or something. Nothing came and so Chris had to say, "Look under the note." Abby bent down and lifted up the paper and down Chris went on one knee. Under the paper was a gorgeous life changing piece of jewelry. Abby cried and said yes and lots of hugs were given.
