The Wedding Website of Tinsley Marie Lowe and Christian Alexandre Termont
Welcome to San Miguel de Allende! San Miguel de Allende, or SMA, is a beautiful colonial town in the state of Guanajuato. It was the birth place of the Mexican Independence, and is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We first visited SMA together in June 2017 for a friend's wedding. We instantly fell in love with the cobblestone streets, colorful walls, and ornate doors. Since then we've traveled back 5+ times, and it was very fitting that Christian chose this location to propose on NYE 2019. We can't wait to share this beautiful town that we love so much with all of you! Quick tips: 1. We suggest you book accommodations early to get your first choice. Below are a few suggestions, but there are endless boutique hotels to choose from. 2. If you plan on joining us for the Callejoneada, we suggest arriving Thursday. However, if you need to travel Friday, flying into QRO or BJX are much closer (1.5 hours from SMA) so you could still make it.

Flight

Leon (BJX)

This is the best airport option for getting to SMA. Leon is about 1.5 hours from San Miguel (closer than Mexico City airport), and much smaller. To get from the airport to SMA, you have a few options: 1. Pre-order or call-on-arrival an Uber or Cabify (around $50-$75). 2. Hire a private driver or book a shuttle (private or shared). For those less comfortable speaking Spanish, this might be a better option than Uber/Cabify. Below are some companies you can contact. 3. Take a taxi - this might be slightly more expensive, but there are counters at the airport to assist you.

Flight

Mexico City (MEX)

This is another airport option for getting to San Miguel. Mexico City is slightly farther from SMA, about 3.5 hours, but has more flight options. To get to SMA you can: 1. Hire a private driver (for those less comfortable speaking Spanish, this might be the better option). Below is a company you can contact. 2. Take a luxury bus (we recommend Primera Plus or ETN). However, this requires you to take a short taxi from the airport to Terminal Norte bus terminal.

Flight

Querétaro (QRO)

For those who don't have the option to fly into Leon, this airport could be another option that get's you closer to SMA. However, there are not many direct flights and connections usually occur in Mexico City. But if you find a direct flight or don't want to organize ground transportation from Mexico City, this option is about 1.5 hours from San Miguel, and you can call an Uber or hire a private driver (see below) to take you to SMA.

Travel Note

Private Driver (BJX/QRO/MEX -> SMA)

Recommended by our wedding planner, you can find Vicente Zavala's options and prices for private transportation at the link provided. He offers transportation for BJX, QRO, and MEX airports. Email: vic.zav.org@gmail.com Phone: +52 1 415 114 0831

Travel Note

Bajio Go Shuttle (BJX or QRO -> SMA)

Shared and Private shuttle transportation between Leon (BJX) / Queretaro (QRO) and San Miguel. We've never used this service, but their reviews on Trip Advisor are great! Cost will depend on how many people you have and whether you choose private or shared. Email: ‎info@bajiogoshuttle.com Phone: ‎+52 1 415 152 1999

Travel Note

Primera Plus (Mexico City -> SMA)

This luxury bus picks up at the Mexico City Terminal Norte bus station (15 minute taxi from the airport). They offer direct transportation to San Miguel for ~$25-30 each way. It's very comfortable and easy, but we'd suggest using an alternate transportation option if you not comfortable navigating the terminal (everything will be in Spanish).

House Or Rental

Airbnb

There are TONS of beautiful Airbnbs in San Miguel, which are often less expensive than hotel options (especially if you share with friends). Our only suggestion is to look through the listing details, guest reviews, and pictures before booking to make sure you understand the layout and amenities of the rental.

COVID Testing for US Return

COVID-19 tests are required to return to the US. Some of your hotels may offer COVID testing on site. If not, the Rosewood has a mobile laboratory in their parking lot. Hours are Tuesday - Sunday 10am to 5pm, cost should be around 550 pesos ($28 USD), and results are emailed within 2 hours. They do not take reservations, so it is on a first come, first served basis.
