We recommend using Uber for getting around Rio. It’s easy, affordable, and reliable. While taxis and buses are available, Uber is usually the most convenient and safest option.
Travel Note
The hotel we highly recommend for those wanting to stay away from the hustle and bustle of the city is the Grand Hyatt Rio de Janeiro, located in Barra da Tijuca. This hotel is not right in the center of the city—it’s more of a quiet, luxurious beach town, perfect if you’re looking to relax in a peaceful setting. If you want to be in the hustle and bustle of the city we recommend hotels in Copacabana, Ipanema, or Botafogo. For younger people, Yoo2 Botafogo is a great option, as well as any beach front hotel in Copacabana. Sol Ipanema hotel is a great option if you want a mix of city but also a more calm beach than Copacabana.

Sol Ipanema is a hotel with views of Ipanema beach, Tina's favorite area!
Hotel
The Sheraton is more of a resort type of feel hotel with steps down to the beach. There are many restaurants on site of the hotel as well. Its not a very walkable area but a great choice if you're looking to have a resort style experience.
