That's completely up to you! We love your kiddos and if you want to bring them, we would love to have them. If you'd like to just have a few days with your spouse and leave the little ones at home, that's ok too!
We believe that the church is a sacred space where Christ Himself is present. Therefore, we ask that for the Nuptial Mass, you wear appropriate church attire (cocktail/business). We also ask that, out of respect for our religious practices, all women wear a modest hat or veil for the Mass. Inexpensive veils may be purchased here: https://www.veilsbylily.com/starter-veils/
If you have indicated that you will be bringing a guest, than absolutely! If not, please come on your own.
We understand that many of our friends and family are not Catholic and may not be familiar with our practices. We have a very ancient, very reverent form of worship and we want you to experience its form and beauty to the fullest. To that end, we have put together a program that will lead you step by step through our liturgy. You are free to follow along or you may choose to just sit back and enjoy the beauty of our faith.
The heart of any Catholic Mass is the receiving of the eucharist: the body, blood, soul and divinity of Christ, commonly called Communion. A Nuptial Mass is no exception. We would be overjoyed for our friends to receive Christ at our wedding. Any Catholic in a state of grace and in good standing with the Church is definitely encouraged to commune with us. For our protestant and nonreligious friends and family, we ask that you take the communion time to say a prayer for us or simply enjoy the beauty around you
We would love to see pictures of our wedding events from your perspective! Feel free to take pictures during the Prelude (before the procession) and at the reception. When uploading to social media, please use the hashtag #HeartinMartin. We ask that, out of respect for the sacredness of the Mass, you refrain from taking pictures and video during the ceremony. We have enlisted a professional, Catholic photographer who understands our rites and rituals to document our wedding.
Free parking is available in two church parking lots. One across the street from the parish, the other behind the parish. There is also free parking available at the reception hall. However, space is limited at both locations so we encourage our friends and family to carpool as much as possible.
The Mass begins at 11:00 AM. We kindly request that everyone arrive at least 15 minutes before that time so that there is no danger of disturbing the Holy Mass. For more details, please see the "Schedule" section of the website.
Indianapolis is a great city. We want each of our guests to be free to enjoy the things that are of particular interest to them. Therefore, we have no specific events planned. For our guests who want to arrive a few days early, feel free to check out the many attractions Indy has to offer. You'll find some of our favourites in the "Things to Do" section. For our guests staying through Sunday, we joyously invite you to attend Mass with us at our home parish. Details can be found also on the "Things to Do" page.
