How We Met

On the banks of the feather river...

In 2014, Alexandra had just finished her yoga teacher training and was asked to teach a class at Sunset Campout in the town of Belden; which had become her annual summer tradition. Little did she know, it was Tim's as well. Tim took her very first yoga class at campout, she even has a photo of him in triangle pose before she even knew his name. The last day of campout while floating in the feather river with her girlfriend Alana, Tim floated up next to them. "Hey, I took your yoga class on Friday!" Tim said. "Oh I hope I did ok, haha." replied Alexandra. Then they drifted apart as Alana and Alexandra went and floated downstream away from the music, also known as "shooting the rapids". Then at the Sunset season closer in Novato she ran into Tim again. This time he called out "yogi crush!" which Alexandra thought was both adorable and super nerdy. Now he had her attention! She instantly liked Tim from that moment on. He brought Alexandra over to meet his friend Nate so he could show her his crystals, because all yoga teachers must love crystals, right?! Tim's sincerity and sweet hearted nature was all too endearing. At first, Alexandra was resistant to such a nice guy. This was not normal for her. For a guy to totally adore her, love her and be open about it. Alexandra and Tim went on many dates, spent a lot of time at his apartment on Byrant st in San Francisco, and continued to grow their friendship with one another. One day while hiking with her girlfriend Alana in the redwoods of Montclair, Alexandra told Alana "I think he could be my husband one day." Deep down, she knew he was the one. Tim however, knew she was the one from the moment he met her.

The Proposal

"I want to summit this thing called life with you"

Feeling the crisp, cold, air kiss their exposed faces while they lay burrowed inside their sleeping bags, the walls of Alexandra and Tim’s tent slowly began to glow. They both knew it was time to get up and start packing up camp. Today was the big day, they were summiting Glen Pass. For the last two days, Tim’s best backpacking bud Nate had been carrying the ring for his buddy, (aka the monkey is in the basket), and he was more than ready to shed the extra 2 ounces back to Tim. Once on the trail, Alexandra charged up that mountain side, now splashed with light from the glorious morning sunrise. She was met at the top with a warm welcome from a rowdy group of JMT’ers, the 20some youngins were full of celebration as everyone from their group made it to the summit. Eventually Alexandra spotted Tim and Nate just down below and she stood up to cheer them on to the top. “You’re almost there, YOU CAN DO IT!” She yelled. At the top they took their packs off as Alexandra continued to chat with a sprightly 60some year old woman who was hiking the JMT by herself. What an inspiration! Unbeknownst to Alexandra, Tim began to fumble around in his backpack. The next thing she knew, Tim stood up with tears in his eyes as he put his arms around her. Alexandra was sure that he was about to pass out from altitude sickness. While struggling to choke out some words it wasn't until he got down on one knee that she realized what was happening. At this time, Alexandra gasped and had tears in her eyes as Tim was finally able to ask her to marry him. Of course she said YES, and the other 6 people at the summit clapped in celebration! On the way down, Nate told Tim to spit out what he had been rehearsing up the other side of the pass. “I want to summit this thing called life with you.” We all laughed now that Tim could finally talk clearly again. Nate captured the proposal on video. Yet somehow we don’t need to watch it. None of us will ever forget that moment.
