Lady Bird Lake - Despite the name, Lady Bird "Lake" is actually the portion of the Colorado River that runs through Austin. We love walking along the Roy and Ann Butler Hike-and-Bike Trail that loops around the downtown portion of the river. You can also rent paddle boards, kayaks, and canoes to take out on the water. Zilker Park - Zilker is where we'll be meeting up on Saturday for anyone who would like to join. Zilker is the the Central Park of Austin and is where the ACL Music Festival takes place each year. Barton Springs Pool - This pool is filled entirely by the natural springs. It's 68 degrees year round and a fun spot to hang and relax. It's $5-$9/person for entry. Mount Bonnell - This is a short hike to some beautiful views overlooking Lake Austin. It's a great spot to wake up early and see the sunrise. Or you can stop by during the day and then head to Flo's Wine Bar for great drinks and New York style pizza.
We lived off their blueberry scones, avocado toast, and Cubans when we had our place on W 5th. A must-go for your morning coffee and breakfast!
Terry Black's BBQ is our go-to spot for mouthwatering Texas barbecue. The line can be long, but it moves fast and Sarah says the sides are even worth the wait! Cooper's BBQ, Micklethwait, and Franklin's are awesome bbq spots as well.
We lived on the west side when we first moved here, and Lins was and still is one of our favs! Lin is a well-known Austin chef who uses lots of local ingredients. The dumplings are insane!
Hold Out Brewery is a local brewery with lots of craft beers. Laid back spot with great food and right next door to Better Half, another one of our favs.
Our favorite ramen spot on popular E 6th St. Lots of bars and a couple breweries in this area if you're looking to get lunch/dinner and drinks after!
A Johnny Cash themed bar - need we say more? This bar was next door to our first apartment in Austin and we frequented it.
We love Laz! Great beer - Prodigal Pils is always a good choice. You can enjoy tacos and occasionally live music here as well. Also located on E 6th, so easy access to other great bars and restaurants nearby.
Some of the best tacos in Austin! The Barbacoa, Al Pastor, and Migas Poblanas are our favorites.
An Austin ice cream institution. Lots of fun flavors. The W 6th location is our favorite, but there's lots around town.
Sarah's embarrassed to say how often she frequents Juiceland for their smoothies. The Barton Springs location was the first, but you can find them all throughout Austin. Her favorite smoothie is the Julio Verde (tastes like an orange creamsicle) and Tim's is the Soul Boulder or Percolator.
