The Wedding Website of Marie Strycharz and Timothy Cheng
We're getting married on an island! And that means getting everyone *on* the island. Once you decide where to stay, there are two ferries that can take you to Chebeague. Check out our home page for a video of our journey on the ferry.

Flight

Flying There

Fly into Portland International Jetport (PWM). From there, it's a quick Uber ride into Portland or about 25 minutes to Freeport and Yarmouth, depending on where you stay. Alternatively, you can fly into Boston (which may be cheaper), then rent a car or take a bus or train to Portland. The drive from Boston is just under two hours by car, and bus and train tickets are about $30.

Rental Car

Driving There

1 Thomas Drive
Cumberland Foreside, ME 04110

It's about 8.5 hours from Buffalo, just under 8 hours from Harrisburg, and a little over 5 hours from NYC. If you choose to stay on the mainland, you can head right to your hotel. If you're heading to the island, park your car in Chebeague's satellite parking lot, located across from the address above, right on Route 1. Parking is $15/day. There's a free shuttle bus to take you from the parking lot to the Chebeague Island Ferry in Yarmouth (Cousins Island). Click the button below for more info.

House Or Rental

Staying on the island

We recommend this for the full island wedding experience! All events will take place on Chebeague. You can rent homes through VRBO, Airbnb, or the locally-run website linked below. You may have to call or email the owners directly. Many of the rental homes include bikes, cars or golf carts. (Yes, driving a golf cart is a totally normal way of getting around Chebeague!) Some properties won't appear online until the winter or spring, so if you don't see a ton of options at first, don't panic. A van is available to take you to your rental home when you arrive on the island. Let us know your plans when you RSVP so we can arrange your transportation.

Hotel

Staying in Freeport

This is a great option if you prefer the simplicity of booking a hotel over a rental home, or just prefer to stay on the mainland. The town of Freeport is home to several hotels and just a short drive from the ferry in Yarmouth. Click the button below for hotel options and rates. We recommend Hotel 44 North or the Freeport Hotel Ascend Hotel Collection for price and proximity to the ferry. You can also choose to stay in an Airbnb in Yarmouth or Freeport. To get to the wedding, you'll take the Chebeague Island Ferry from Cousins Island/Yarmouth. The last ferry back leaves at 10:30pm, however, we've booked an additional boat pickup at 11:30pm for guests who want to stay a little later!

House Or Rental

Staying in Portland

Portland is the first part of Maine we fell in love with! If you have time to explore, we highly recommend spending a day here. There are a ton of hotels and Airbnbs in downtown Portland. (Airbnbs tend to be cheaper.) That said, the ferry between Portland and Chebeague is a long ride. If you stay here on the night of the wedding, you may want to take the Yarmouth ferry instead. In addition to the ferry, we've arranged for a late-night boat back to the mainland, departing at 11:30pm after the wedding. Keep scrolling for more information.

Travel Note

Getting to Chebeague Island

Our wedding will take place at the Chebeague Island Inn. There are two ferries that can bring you to Chebeague Island, one that departs from Cousins Island in Yarmouth and one that departs from Portland. We recommend the ferry from Cousins Island/Yarmouth, run by the Chebeague Transportation Co. It's a 15-minute ride and drops passengers right next to the wedding venue. However, if you're in Portland and don't mind the scenic route, you can take Casco Bay Lines. It's about 60–90 minutes, stopping at a few other islands along the way.

Travel Note

Ferry from Yarmouth

The recommended route! A round-trip ticket is $18 for adults and $5 for kids. Tickets should be purchased online before you arrive, but you can use them at any time. Click the button below for ferry times and tickets. If you’re taking a cab or Uber to the ferry, the driver can bring you right to the dock on Cousins Island. Have them take you to "Chebeague Island Ferry" on Wharf Road. If you’re driving your own car to the ferry, park in the Chebeague satellite parking lot in Cumberland (Route 1). A free shuttle bus will bring you and your luggage from the parking lot to the ferry dock on Cousins Island. Parking is $15/day which you can pay to the bus driver. The bus leaves the lot 30 minutes before each ferry departure time.

Travel Note

Ferry from Portland

To take the ferry from Portland, head to Casco Bay Lines at 56 Commerical Street. You can buy tickets in person when you arrive. It's $11.05 for adults, $5.50 for seniors and kids. All tickets are round-trip and can be used at any time. This ferry drops passengers at the dock on the far side of the island, but inn's staff are available to pick up all of our guests. Give them a call at 207-846-5155 before you board the ferry and give them your arrival time so they can be ready for you. Click the button below for ferry times. For directions to Casco Bay Lines in Portland, go to "ABOUT US" then "GETTING HERE."

Travel Note

Late-Night Boat

We've booked the "Casco Bay Cat" to do one late-night pickup from the island. The boat will depart at 11:30pm on June 3, at the dock next to the inn (Stone Pier). Drinking is allowed on board and there are Bluetooth speakers you can connect to. This boat will stop at Yarmouth/Cousins Island, hang out for a bit while passengers wait for rides, then head to Portland. No reservations are needed and you can get off at either location.

Travel Note

Taxi Service

Here's a local 24/7 taxi company you can use if you don't have Uber or just want to pre-arrange a ride. Ubers are readily available in Portland at all times but may be slower getting to Yarmouth at night. Again, for those taking the late-night boat, you're welcome to wait on board.

Travel Note

Golf Cart Rental

Many of the rental homes on Chebeague Island come with bikes or "island cars," and some are just steps away from the inn. If your rental does not include a vehicle and you would like one, you can rent a golf cart for the weekend from Dylan's Carts. This is not required (the island is pretty small and we'll pick you up for the wedding if needed) but it's an option if you want to explore more!
