If you are getting into Aspen early, the Thursday Snowmass concert is a must! It takes place on Snowmass mountain, with a gorgeous view of the valley, and a yummy selection of restaurants in the Snowmass mall. Arrive in Snowmass early to park in the parking structure and take the small gondola up, or in one of the Snowmass Mall lots and walk across the mall to the hill. Or take the RFTA bus directly to the Snowmass mall.
As the most photographed mountains in North America, a trip up to the Maroon Bells is definitely worth your time and effort while you are in Aspen. These 14,000 feet, bell-shaped peaks tower above Maroon Lake, offering some of the most spectacular natural views in the world. Get there by bike (experienced bikers only) or by shuttle. Make sure to book your shuttle ahead of time since the summer months tend to book up!
***For all hikes, remember you are at a high elevation. Make sure to bring water, food, sunscreen, a hat, and proper footwear. Contact Maggie if you have any questions! Smuggler Mountain - Walking distance from town, this trail takes you up a dirt rode for the best views of Aspen. 3 miles round trip. Ute trail - A narrow 6.2 mile trail right outside of Aspen. Recommended for advanced hikers (very steep!) Crater Lake - If you are looking for a workout once you are at Maroon Bells, this is a beautiful option. Rim Trail South - Just a short bus or drive away from Aspen, this is an intermediate hike that offers 360 degree views of the Snowmass area. Spend the morning of the wedding at the diverse and delicious Aspen Farmer's Market. Take the hotel shuttle into town, or ride RFTA bus and get off at the Galena Street stop. Parking in town is challenging on weekends, so taking the bus or a shuttle would be most convenient. The market makes a U-shape from the corner of Galena and Hopkins to Hunter and then again back to the intersection of Hyman and Galena. Expect to see Colorado grown produce, crafts, and live music as you walk around. There is also a food court for lunch.
