Throughout this whole process, Lauren and I have recognized how much of what we are doing is unconventional. We met on a Reformed Christian dating site, which I didn't even know existed. My very first day on the site, I eventually came across Lauren's profile. She was the only one that I actually decided to send a message to. Let me say, looking back, I am happy that she was the one I messaged first. Even though, I could see where she was located, and it was across the country, I went into it with the heart of seeing what God would do. I decided I wasn't going to do any gimmicks or lame pick-up lines. A simple "Hey, Lauren, how are you?" was enough to get the conversation started. From there, she and I started introductions and getting to know each other further. Through multiple engaging, but important conversations, we found ourselves growing closer together, even from almost 1,500 miles away. We both were looking for the same thing; to serve God through a ministry of marriage by serving in our respective roles. We had many of the conversations about the things that we deemed "could be dealbreakers." We found that we were eerily similar in the way we think and interact within God's magnificent creation. Though we had both had bad experiences in previous relationships, we were cautiously committed to continuing to get to know each other. Getting to know each other led to deep conversations about theology, life, love, and ultimately the future. In the short time that Lauren and I have had, we always recognized that things were progressing quickly, but they never felt rushed. We both were just done with all the fluff and nonsense. The Lord has used this to make us very purposed and prayerful in our pursuit of a Godly marriage. Lauren agreed to marry me on June 17th, 2023 and we are so excited to be married. The Lord has been so good to keep us heading towards marriage. I know she will be a wonderful wife and mother. We are ready to start the next chapter of our lives getting closer to each other and ultimately closer to God. This truly has been an answer to prayer.
