This is a must stop lunch spot for me (Tim) every time I am lucky enough to come back to Siena. They are known for their sandwiches, with fresh cheese and cured meats. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! This place can be a bit intimidating, as they don't really speak English, and its a locals spot too, but since its also a tourist spot, you will be just fine!
I (Tim) haven't been here since 2006, but it was a very frequent lunch spot when I lived in Siena. There pizza was fantastic, and their reviews are still excellent all these years later. Definitely worth stopping by if you are looking for a quick lunch. Update 5/8: Went today for lunch, it's still good :)
Siena isn't known for its gelato like Florence, but this place makes fantastic gelato, and is our favorite spot in Siena for gelato.
Another solid gelato place, very close to the Piazza del Campo
Arguably Tim's favorite restaurant in Siena, and also a top pick of Roberto's. Food is fantastic and the walls are covered with Palio memorabilia, as the owner used to be a jockey in the Palio races. Highly recommend!
Probably the nicest restaurant in Siena, food is great but its expensive compared to other restaurants in town. Its in an ideal location, a block from the Piazza del Campo, and has a bit of notoriety, as it is Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel's favorite restaurant in Siena. The owner has a wine bar around the corner that is quite the experience, wine caves that go down 2-3 floors into old Etruscan caves.
Fantastic food, away from the Piazza del Campo. They serve up typical Sienese and Tuscan food, and do it well! This is a Roberto top pick!
Great food, more modern versions of Tuscan cuisine. The restaurant is run by a young couple from Florence. Its also relatively close to the NH Hotel.
Food is good, ambiance is one of a kind, as you dine in Etruscan caves!
This is a Roberto pick, known for catering to locals. We haven't been but if Roberto recommends it, then its most likely very good!
Another Roberto pick, but not a restaurant we have been to. Update 5/9: Went here for dinner last night and we can confirm its good!
Another Roberto pick. It is very close to the Palazzo Ravizza. We haven't been there, but a couple we met in October at the Palazzo Ravizza said they make this their first stop every time they come to Siena (which is once per year).
Right off the main square, behind city hall. They serve up great rustic Tuscan food at a good price. We went here for lunch in October and enjoyed it very much.
Nice neighborhood restaurant. We went here on Sunday night and it was great!
