Maid of Honor
Jackie and I have been best friends for 22 years. We've been talking about being each other's maid of honor since we were brace-faced, side bang wearing teens (and wouldn't thirteen year old us be so proud). Jackie's self identified interests are: 1. Jessica 2. Trader Joe's 3. Engineering like a badass. This woman is honestly one of the smartest people I know, and just recently made an exciting move to Berkley, CA to start grad school while working part time as an engineer! IS THERE NOTHING THIS WOMAN CAN'T DO! I am absolutely so lucky to have the world's best maid of honor by my side next summer.
Best Man
Dave and I have an extended history of giving each other the best and worst advice depending on the circumstance. From an impulse purchase to skiing to our days jumping and competing at Shaker, the answer was always some variation of 'Are you silly? I'm still gonna send it.' No matter the adventure, Dave is always down to explore it. Yet throughout it at all, he has always been a steadfast source of rational and coherent advice. His well-grounded demeanor has always coupled well with his innate sense of adventure to create a nice sieve for some of my more outlandish ideas.
Bridesmaid
I've known Ally exactly as long as I've known Tim. The jury's out on who knows me better... Definitely the only woman I would willingly lead a trip for teenagers with. She is single-handedly responsible for stopping me from making a lot of questionable decisions (and also egging me on to make others). Currently Ally is a part time nanny and forever student.
Groomsman
Reuben and I have been causing a ruckus since (much to our teacher's chagrin) middle school at Shaker Junior. A friend with unrivaled intellectual curiosity, Reuben and I have been pushing each other since before I helped convinced him (you're welcome Brown) to quit Tennis for Track. Similarly at ease whether it be at Log Bay or sifting through the potential societal consequences of automated AI with me, Reuben always has your back and I am forever grateful for his way of thinking so outside the box, you forgot about shapes entirely.
Bridesmaid
Brea and I actually met when Jackie invited me to a beach trip with her friends from high school. That day at Huntington Beach a beautiful friendship was born! We spent every school break after that doing crazy things at strange hours and I wouldn't have it any other way! She rocks it as the coolest bartender in LA and has very cool (and very large) dog. This girl is the definition of cool and I'm so glad that she agreed to help me celebrate this day!
Groomsman
Despite growing up in the Shire, Thomas is probably the most resourceful person I know. A consummate craftsman who's always focused on expanding his own skill set, Tom brings a unique honesty to the equation. His puckish instincts disguise his intellect and fierce pride in his work. Us second child cousins must uphold our place as impish agents for debauchery, but Thomas brings an inventive and pragmatic twist to this lens and keeps us all honest while laughing.
Bridesmaid
I sure lucked into the greatest sister-in-law in the world, let me tell you guys. Not only is she a crazy talented composer and musician, but she's the most genuine person I know! While I'm sure she sometimes feels like our personal photographer, the truth is I would be lost without her. Who else would I look at with disdain in my eyes when Tim, Patrick, and Bob won't stop talking politics at the dinner table?
Groomsman
A superlative source of lively and enjoyable activities, Nick is the most boisterous kind-hearted person you'll encounter. Day in and day out he balances sheer competitiveness with a desire to see everyone around him succeed. He's a man who is just as comfortable fishing out of a river as he is debating the properties of the water that fish came from. While he still exhibits some of the rugged individuality that the Shire rubbed off on him, we're glad he came around sooner than the other one of the thirty-something that made the cut.
Bridesmaid
Lauren and I met while I was working as a receptionist at a local OB/GYN office. We clicked right away and many shenanigans have ensued since. We've both moved on to greener pastures since then and she's currently killing the human resources game at a local company. I don't know what I would do without her sparkling personality, free spirit, and raw honesty (certainly my life would be much more boring). Needless to say that I am incredibly glad that she could accompany me on such a big day!
Groomsman
My older brother, and realist advice giver there ever was. Possessing the intellectual prowess of Aristotle and work ethic of Tesla, there's no quandary or problem that can't be solved. While eschewing mainstream sports, Patrick is one of the most ferocious competitors you'll meet. It sure wasn't glamorous and I had no idea the importance of it at the time, but the environment of intellectual competition he fosters made me a sharper and more rounded thinker. You'll find him running more these days since the real-world mechanics of bicycles just couldn't keep up with his mental ambitions on how they should be operated.
Bridesmaid
Amanda (and her boyfriend Dave) were the first of Tim's friends that I ever met! Even as a stranger she was so sweet and fun. She has some amazing cats and a beautiful home in Rochester. She's also one of the most impressive jewelers I've ever met! I'm so glad to have this lady in my life!
Groomsman
My younger brother, and the most genuine person you'll ever meet. I'll never cease to appreciate the candor that he speaks exclusively in, nor the passion and drive with which he pursues those things that do interest him. With a knack for anything that bleeps or bloops, Daniel will accomplish whatever he sets his mind to. He likes to create his own sandboxes to play in, but is always happy to share them with others. An altruistic fellow if I ever met one, the world would be a better place if a higher percentage of its males were Daniels.
Groomsman
A tenacious and compassionate man, Alex exhibits a zest for life and all of the ups and downs that come with it. The definition of putting the team on your back (except when it came to chores as a child of course), I couldn't have asked for a more resolved or considerate future brother-in-law.
Bridesmaid
Shauna and I also met as receptionists as the OB/GYN. Weird how when a place only hires woman that it makes it extremely easy to make female friends. Honestly, thank goodness for that place otherwise my social life here in Albany would be pretty nonexistent...Shauna and I always have a blast together, probably because we have the same sense of humor (which mostly means that we think 'your mom' and 'that's what she said' jokes are hysterical). So excited to laugh the night away with yet another lovely lady!
