FAQs

The Wedding Website of Tim Becker and Damien McKinney
Question

Will the couple have a private ceremony before the wedding?

Answer

Yes. We’re planning a private mountain ceremony—just the two of us—doing something we love most: hiking to the top of a mountain and exchanging vows surrounded by nature. We can’t wait to celebrate afterward with all of you at our reception.

Question

How early should I book accommodations?

Answer

As early as possible! Our celebration falls during peak leaf season in the mountains and Brevard is at its busiest that time of year. Pilot Cove has a limited number of cabins on-site, and nearby hotels and Airbnbs fill up quickly. Because it’s such a popular season, we’re unable to reserve a block of rooms or cabins. So we encourage everyone to book their accommodations as soon as possible.

Question

What is the weather like this time of year?

Answer

October in the North Carolina mountains is crisp, colorful, and beautiful. Days are usually mild and sunny, with highs in the 60s or low 70s, while evenings can turn cool, sometimes dipping into the 40s. The fall colors are at their peak, so expect golden leaves, cozy air, and the kind of mountain light that makes everything glow. Layers are your best friend for comfort throughout the day.

Question

What is the dress code for the reception?

Answer

Come comfortable and casual. Think mountain weekend, not black tie. The reception will be outdoors with food trucks, live music, and plenty of room to relax. Jeans, sweaters, flannels, casual dresses, and boots are all perfect. We just want everyone to feel relaxed and enjoy the evening. Layers are a good idea once the mountain air cools down at night.

Question

Are kids invited?

Answer

Yes! We’d love for families to join in the celebration. The reception will be outdoors with plenty of space for kids to play and enjoy the evening. We just ask that parents keep an eye on little ones as the area has natural terrain and evening lighting.

Question

Are Uber, Lyft, or taxis available in the area?

Answer

Yes, but they can be limited in Brevard, especially at night or during busy weekends. If you plan to use a rideshare service, we recommend scheduling your ride ahead of time to make sure you have a pickup arranged when you need it.

Question

Is the reception terrain suitable for heels or dress shoes?

Answer

Most of the area is paved and easy to walk on, but the event is very casual, so there’s no need for dress shoes or heels. Comfortable footwear like boots, flats, or anything you’d wear for a relaxed evening outdoors is perfect.

Question

Is there parking at the venue?

Answer

Yes! There will be parking available on-site, along with a shuttle to take guests to the reception area if needed. For those staying at Pilot Cove, a shuttle will also be available to make getting to and from the celebration easy and stress-free.

Question

Who should I contact if I have dietary restrictions?

Answer

Please email Damien or Tim at Summerglenhounds@gmail.com. Feel free to include your name, RSVP details, and any dietary notes so we can take great care of you.
