It all started when Amy dragged Hillary to Evan's a'cappella group Halloween party on South Campus of SUNY Buffalo. Matt showed up with some friends and noticed Hillary walking in. After working up the courage to talk to her, Matt was immediately in love. However, Matt's world class flirting skills put him directly into the dreaded friend zone. Matt was infatuated with Hillary so being friends for over a year was still okay with him. After hanging out in Porter Quad every week with friends, the friend zone began to slowly evaporate. Finally, at the same Halloween party one year later, Matt finally made a move. A few months later, Hillary left to study abroad in England with Amy. Matt and Hillary skyped constantly, which culminated in Matt (and Evan) flying to England to tour Europe with them. At the end of that trip, May 29, 2012, Matt and Hillary officially became a couple. In the summer of 2015, Hillary and Matt moved in together into their Upper East Side closet. Hillary learned to live with Matt's complete obsession with watching the Mets, while Matt learned how to follow Hillary's quirky routines. Day after day, Matt and Hillary grew closer together, until one special day... For weeks, Matt planned a great day to propose on Saturday, November 25, 2017. That Friday, Hillary got a text saying that the girls were going out to dinner Saturday night. Matt couldn't come up with a sly enough excuse to come back to the city. The great day would have to be postponed by 24 hours. Finally, Sunday came, which was also Matt's birthday, and Matt was ready. Hillary should have known this moment was coming when Matt wasn't wearing sweatpants and actually insisted on turning off the Jets game to go out. After touring the holiday market in Bryant Park, Matt and Hillary took a romantic stroll through Central Park, where he found a quiet spot by The Lake and got down on one knee.
