We kindly request that all guests dress in their best cocktail attire. Additionally, we respectfully ask that guests choose a dress color other than black, as, people typically refrain from wearing the same color as the bride.
Please see the travel section of the website for hotel and B&B suggestions. The bride & groom are staying at The Inn at Jim Thorpe. Unfortunately, the hotel does not offer room blocking options during the month of October. If you decide to stay at The Inn at Jim Thorpe, you are welcome to request a room located closest to the couple but it is not necessary. Additionally, If you are planning on booking a room in/around Jim Thorpe, our venue suggested doing it as soon as possible, as October bookings are already beginning to increase.
You got that right?! The Inn at Jim Thorpe is known for its ghosts. When we booked the reception, the hotel provided a packet detailing some of the haunted claims. So, please, if you want more information, don't hesitate to ask! We know what you're thinking, and don’t worry! Brian and Leanne have already made sure they booked the most haunted room in the building (supposedly).
Hickory Run Chapel is located in a wooded area of Hickory Run State Park. The chapel is short walk from the road, so be mindful of your shoe choice for this portion of the celebration, as you will briefly walk over unpaved ground (see photo above). There are NO bathroom facilities located on the grounds of Hickory Run Chapel. The nearest restroom is a port-a-potty across Route 534. Nearest flush facilities are located in the Sand Spring Day Use area (about 1 mile from the chapel).
There is limited parking directly at the Chapel. Extra parking can be found across Route 534 at the Shades of Death and Sand Spring Trail Head. It is important to note that parking must not impede any traffic flow. Vehicles must be parked off of road surfaces.
Please see this website for general parking information: https://www.poconomountains.com/jim-thorpe/parking/ If you are booking a room at The Inn at Jim Thorpe, you will have the ability to utilize their parking lot. If you are booking at another hotel, please check with your specific lodging choice as they might offer their own parking options. If you are driving in for the event, and returning home that same evening, please read the below message from the event coordinator: There are county parking lots, I do not believe they close, from my understanding they are 8am-6pm metered and then as long as you are out the following morning you are safe to stay parked there. However, there is limited parking everywhere, especially in October. My best advice is to get here early, they fill up fast. Some insider knowledge I can give you is this... There are county office parking spots in the 2 main lots (by the train station and next to the turkey hill gas station when you enter town, on Susquehanna Blvd) that are only for court house workers until 4:30pm Mon-Fri after 4:30 they are open to the public, so if you are coming when the court house workers all leave you can grab those spots. Some other less optimal advice is to park anywhere in the residential side of town and uber over the bridge. I think on a Thursday you will not have as hard of a time as the weekend crowd does, but just to be safe I would tell them to come as early as they can. If there are any additional questions do not hesitate to reach out to the bride & groom.
