So... if you didn't already know - We are actually co-workers. After months of never meeting, we happened to bump into one another and realized we worked in the same organization on the same floor. Patrick: After an extended stay out of the office to handle family affairs, Tiffany is the first person I met coming back to the office. Bumping into another young black professional in our line of work is rare, so it's only right we got to know one another. Tiffany: One day I was leaving the building behind this tall, young, black man 'who could dress' wondering why I didn't know who he was. I subsequently found out we worked in the same group and a couple of months later by running into him in the hallway where I asked him if he wanted to link for happy hour. Now for those thinking Tiff made the first move, you're completely wrong as we both believed co-workers would be the last person we’d ever date. Turns out to be one of the best decisions we've ever made.
Tiffany: I would say I knew we were actual friends the evening of our company holiday party in 2016 at the Washington Firehouse Restaurant in DC. We mixed and mingled with everyone but as the crowd started to thin, we realized there was a "REAL" holiday party happening upstairs. Someone overheard us talking about it and told us they had a taco bar up there so... we obviously decided to crash it. We went upstairs, sidled by the check-in table and made ourselves scarce while we looked for the taco bar. It was a full house, people were dancing, there was a dj, a stage, the whole nine. As we made our way through the crowd someone noticed us looking a little lost and decided to befriend us. She eventually asked me if I worked on Chuck's campaign. As I stammered saying no, the woman followed-up with, "oh, so who do you know? Did Chuck invite you?" I swiftly answered, "Oh no, I actually know Chuck through Patrick," smirking as I gestured his way. Patrick: First off....Best carne asada tacos I've had to date. Secondly, you see how she set me up? What Tiffany didn't know is I'm quick on my feet and explained how I knew Chuck, worked on his marketing team for the campaign, and how great of a guy he is. 😉 Turns out, this is Chuck's wife so we made sure to complete our mission of securing tacos and swiftly getting out of there. Just as we are leaving the man of the hour Chuck starts giving a speech. We even managed to stop and take a photo as proof we were there. Friends for life.
Patrick: This was an amazing day. 🙂 After attempting over a month to secure tickets to the exclusive Infinite Kusama exhibit at the Hirshhorn Museum, we were finally able to get tickets on the last available day. We didn't anticipate having as much fun as we did between people watching and experiencing one of the best exhibits we've ever seen, it truly imprinted this as a special day on both of us. Tiffany: I'm not sure if it was the teamwork of finally securing the tickets, skipping half a day of work to go see it, or the exhibit itself, but there was definitely some magic in the air on this day. To be able to share that experience of something so unique started something I think we realized but were afraid to admit at the time. It was as much fun as it was beautiful and allowed me an opportunity to get to know this amazing man in a way I wouldn't have been able to otherwise. Patrick: The next day I was restless and needed to write. In that moment, I knew there was something else happening between us we didn't recognize, but everyone else saw. I prayed, recognized the signs, and simply asked God to guide my steps. 4 years later everything that occurred was perfect in His timing leading us to 10/11/21.
