PUERTO VALLARTA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (PVR) The closest international airport to Sayulita is in Puerto Vallarta (PVR). Most flights from Sacramento, San Jose, and San Francisco have short layovers to Puerto Vallarta but there are a few non-stop flights if you're lucky or want to pay a little extra!
Sayulita is 24 miles north of PVR and takes roughly 45-60 minutes by car.. You can pre-arrange a car service (Sayulita VIP Transportation, Jose Ramos Taxi Service and Sayulita Suburban Services) from PVR to Sayulita. We can help arrange rides and organize shared rides once we have your flight info. Round trip cost is $130 per car and will be Suburban’s that can comfortably fit up to 7 people. The drivers will make a stop at a grocery store on the way to Sayulita if you would like stock up on anything – they’ll also have a cold cerveza waiting for you! Taxis are an easy and fast option at the airport taxi kiosk for approximately $50 each way. Ubers are a cheaper option than taxis but are not allowed inside Puerto Vallarta airport so you need to go out and wait for your Uber outside the airport (on the highway on the left across the bridge). There are many Ubers in Puerto Vallarta but very sparse in Sayulita so do not rely on this service to get back to the airport.
In Sayulita it’s easier to get around by foot or a golf cart than by a car. Most of the activities and wedding events are within a 10 min walk of the Plaza, but some of the villas are perched on hills or cobblestone roads where having a golf cart might help (Pacific Golf Cart or Roys are reliable golf cart rental companies). Taxis are also available and for $5 you can get almost anywhere in town. We do not recommend a rental car. They are only for those who want to go outside of Sayulita, so most of you won't need one. If you do decide to rent a car, keep in mind that this is a busy village where parking can be very difficult.
You can walk from the south end to the north end of the beach in about 15-20 minutes. The surrounding roads are mostly dirt with lots of small motorcycles, golf carts, 4-wheelers, and taxis. When you exit baggage claim, you will be greeted by many salespeople from hotels and car services in the area (some even offering free alcohol samples!). We suggest you avoid using these services and head straight to the taxi kiosk or your organized ride outside the exit.
