We met my (Hannah) first night of college at an event for freshmen. Tyler was an RA and doesn't remember it but I sure do! I was smitten right away but due to all the nerves that come with being a freshman it took a while for me to do anything about it. After many many nights studying together at the library and chatting as we walked back to neighboring dorms, we started dating in December of 2018.
I (Tyler) had the whole thing planned for roughly a month. I had everything planned. We had previously gone on a trip to look for her engagement ring, which I went back and bought the next day. I called her roommates while they were off-campus to let them in on the details. I lined-up my sister to take pictures, my friends to help setup. I snuck away to her parents for a dinner to ask for their permission and she had no idea. I had the perfect excuses at different times for the proposal night so she wouldn't see it coming. By the day of the proposal, it felt like half of Taylor's campus knew and somehow she didn't. We got in the car to go on an "early" Valentines date, which I led of with telling her that I needed to go to the library to pick something up from a friend, which was true because I gave the ring to my roommate. While I could tell she was annoyed, I promised it would be quick. We got there and I convinced her to come inside, and I think at this point she knew what happening. I led her to the room in which we first talked about dating, so it was only fitting that the same room was where I would ask her to marry me.
