Started in 1992 by Kevin and Lisa Myers (who still own and operate this location!) Flying M is known for its quality coffee, quirky gifts, mismatched furniture, and inclusive environment. In 1994, they started Flying M Valentine for AIDS art benefit show which has now raised nearly half a million dollars! They also have some fantastic pastries that we have enjoyed several times.
Barry Faught hails from the expansive farm fields and deep blue skies of Idaho. His father, Bill Bailey, was a radio DJ and local celebrity in Boise. After college, Barry ended up in the family business of broadcasting, but his yearning for independence and adventure eventually led him to the evergreen city of Seattle. The big city was full of great music, delicious food, inclusive communities, eco-friendly living, and so many coffee shops. Visiting cafes went from hobby to obsession.
A beautiful winery out in the country. Fair warning you have to drive down 3miles of dirt road to get to them, but it's worth it! Beautiful views and delicious wine. The food is excellent as well. We especially enjoy their Rosé (dry) of Syrah Eagle Foothills. It’s a bold Syrah (70%), tempered with a touch of Grenache (30%). It makes it a golden peach color naturally.
Visit the town where Tiana's Great grandparents, and Mamo (grandma) lived and grew up. The old grocery store her great grandfather build to sell his potato and onions out of is still standing! Parma Ridge offers a variety of estate wines, a full bistro menu and a beautiful vineyard space. We love this little winery. Reservations are highly recommended as this place fills up when they have live music.
A winery with a great view of the valley from their tasting room. We've tasted here twice and enjoyed their wine. They have indoor and outdoor seating available. We recommend you book a tasting online to ensure you have a seat.
Beer, Cider, Wine, Kombucha and good food. We really loved the vibe here. Typically music on the weekend, Music Bingo on Monday and Trivia on Thursdays. They strive for sustainable practices that help the environment through sourcing locally and reducing waste too! They give back also by supporting a different charity each month, just order the month's charity beer and they will donate $2 per pint. They are B Certified too, how cool?!
Great local beers, and canned cocktails. Enjoy a brew inside their tap room or at their outside beer garden with a giant firepit and bocce ball! Kid and dog friendly. Non-alcoholic options include kombucha, craft soda, Coca-Cola products, water, and more. TAP ROOM HOURS Monday-Sunday 11:00am -10:00pm
Beautiful botanical gardens on the old grounds of the previously used penitentiary. We considered this as a wedding venue but chose another garden space for accessibility. There is a children's area of the garden as well. Garden and Admin Hours: Mon – Sun, 9 am – 5 pm Adults: $9, Seniors (65+): $7, Youth 4-12: $5, Kids 3 & under: FREE
The Idaho Fish and Game MK Nature Center offers a unique wildlife experience on a 4.6-acre site along the Boise River Greenbelt. The StreamWalk and Visitor Center provide a glimpse of Idaho's many landscapes and abundant wildlife. Underwater viewing windows along the stream walk give visitors a fish-eye view of the world. Best of all, it's free!
The city's oldest park, Julia Davis Park, was created thanks to a generous donation of 43 acres of land in 1907 by Thomas Davis as a memorial to his beloved wife, Julia. Known for her kindness and gracious hospitality, Julia welcomed and assisted travelers as they stopped their wagons along the river to rest from their journeys across the high desert. Here they have the Gene Harris band shell. Gene Harris was a Jazz pianist who lived and played in Boise from the 70's till his death. During this time he also toured with the Ray Brown Trio.
The 153-acre park features a distinctive spray fountain, bocce courts, disc golf course, horseshoe pits, outdoor gym, sand volleyball court, Together Treasure Valley Dog Island, playground, tennis courts, lighted softball diamonds, soccer, cricket and football fields and a reservable picnic shelter. The park is named after Ann Morrison who was known locally for her great civic interest and friendliness.
The deep canyon of the Snake River, with its crags and crevices and thermal updrafts, is home to the greatest concentration of nesting birds of prey in North America – and perhaps, the world. The BLM’s mission at the Morley Nelson Snake River Birds of Prey National Conservation Area (NCA) is to preserve this remarkable wildlife habitat, while providing for other compatible uses of the land. Some 800 pairs of hawks, owls, eagles and falcons come each spring to mate and raise their young.
All things fries here! First choose your type of potato (gold, russet, etc), then the cut (shoestring, waffle, or o'ball perhaps?), next salt flavor and last dipping sauces. Can't go wrong with a meal of fries in Idaho! There are other locations as well.
Great food and drinks! More about them from their website, "Proteins are nutrient-rich and sourced from ranchers and farmers dedicated to traditional methods of agriculture. Seasonal produce comes from local farms that care for their land and crops with integrity."
