Artist Point is an easy to moderate hike in Grand Marais. It's one of our crown jewels and is a great walk for first time visitors and those who visit often!
Oberg Mountain is a moderate hike located between Lutsen and Tofte. This is an extremely popular hike, especially during Fall Color Season!
Pincushion is just at the top of the hill in Grand Marais. There's an assortment of trails for those who want a gentle walk with a view, a run, or just somewhere to see Grand Marais from a bird's eye view.
Eagle Mountain is a moderate to difficult out and back trail 40 minutes outside of Grand Marais. The trail is a total of 7 miles, so make sure you have a few hours if you want to do this hike. *It's the highest point in Minnesota reaching around 2,300 ft in elevation....not so tall!
Grab some fish and chips for lunch, a sandwich or salad for a hike, or some smoked fish for a relaxing afternoon snack. This is special place owned by a friend of ours.
This one is about 35 minutes outside of Grand Marais, but it is one of our favorite restaurants in Cook County! You may even see a moose on your way there.
Excellent coffee and even better people! Get a breakfast sandwich...they're really good. Our favorites: lichen latte w/pistachio milk, iced matcha with lavender, turkey and pepper jack breakfast sandwich, trail cookie, and double chocolate muffin.
Sauna like a true Minnesotan! Saunas are such a delight when the weather gets cold and the days get longer, not to mention all the health benefits. We suggest the floating sauna on Devil Track Lake.
Visit Canada! We love our neighbors in Thunder Bay. In many ways, Thunder Bay feels like taking a step back in time in the best way. Take a hike at Kakabeka Falls, get a cocktail at Barkeep, and grab some local food items from Maltese Grocery. See that big land mass out in the middle of the lake? That's the Sleeping Giant! Be careful not to wake him....
Relax on the shores of Lake Superior, pick through the rocks until you find an agate, have a picnic, or go for a cold plunge. All the beaches are pretty great, so you can't go wrong.
