George Bush Intercontinental Airport
Houston has two major airports. The larger one—George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH)—typically offers more nonstop flight options, especially through United Airlines. IAH is about 27 miles from our hotel block. To make your travel smoother (and avoid the worst of Houston traffic!), we recommend arriving Thursday evening (after 7pm) or Friday morning (before 10am).

William P. Hobby Airport
Houston’s second major airport is William P. Hobby (HOU), located about 25 miles from our hotel block. It offers some nonstop flight options with Southwest Airlines. Keep in mind that getting to the hotel block from Hobby usually means driving through downtown, which can mean heavier traffic. We recommend flying in Thursday evening or Friday morning to avoid the worst of the rush.

Houston Traffic Tips
Houston is a vibrant, diverse city with amazing food and plenty to explore—but like any big city, it comes with some traffic. While car is the best mode of transportation here, expect heavy congestion during rush hours (especially 3:30–6:30 PM). Try to travel outside those peak times for a smoother ride. Even on weekends give yourself a little extra time, just in case! On average, you can expect a 30–45 minute drive between most locations.
