How We MetHow We Met

In case you didn't know we are both proud alumni of Virginia Tech, which is where we met, fell in love, and got engaged. We met early on in our freshman year while living in the same dorm (then known as Lee Hall). Ashley was a part of the female engineering living learning community Hypatia, while Noah was a part of the male counterpart Galileo. We ended up joining the same all freshman design team where Ashley ended up as the team lead. Fast forward to March, after months of working side by side on a NASA project a bond had started to form. We walked back from Lane Stadium to Lee Hall after a trip to Home Depot one afternoon and chatted the whole way, that was the moment Ashley first remembers thinking Noah was someone very special. A few weeks later we went on an official first date, hitting up Greens for dinner then going to a Juxtaposition acapella concert and the rest really is history. Freshman year ended fast and was followed by a summer of adventures in Texas, Virginia, and Washington D.C. Sophomore year featured some new activities including Noah’s ventures back into singing (shout out Naturally Sharp) and Ashley’s 2nd best college decision (after Noah) to join Kappa Kappa Gamma. The next year was a little different as Ashley was away on a co-op and Noah stayed in Blacksburg. Long distance was hard but it is true what they say, absence does make the heart grow fonder. The next year we were reunited in Blacksburg for Noah’s senior year before we went through another year of long distance. This time, Noah was able to visit super often, and got to know Ashley's parents really well as he would split the drive from Madison to Blacksburg with a stop in Frederick. Finally, after all that we were able to really start our life together in Cedar Rapids Iowa. We miss being close to our friends and family but absolutely love the life we’ve been able to start out here. We both work for Collins and are excited to see what the future holds.
