Sarah and Jimmy first met in Jimmy's dorm room freshman year before a UCSB men's volleyball game when Sarah's new friend Crystal Calvo, who also happened to be Jimmy's Poway High School classmate, brought Sarah over for pre-game beers. It was a casual introduction between two new friends - the sparks weren't flying quite yet. Sarah and Jimmy's paths would cross from time to time over the next year and a half, with exchanges of a polite "Hey how's it going!?" and "Good to see you!". During sophomore year spring quarter in 2013, Sarah, Jimmy, and a group of friends shared the same awkward 20 minute break between classes on Tuesdays & Thursdays. It wasn't enough time to go home and nap, or to make a trip to the library worth it. That 20 minute gap between classes laid the foundation for what would become 'Lawn Chill,' and ultimately the foundation for Sarah and Jimmy's future together. Lawn Chill was just that - chillin' on the lawn in front of the Davidson Library (now paved over after the 2015 construction) with friends to kill the time before their next class. Shared stresses over mid-terms and other small talk soon evolved to subtle flirtations and stolen glances. After about a full quarter of lawn chillin', Jimmy mustered up the courage to text Sarah and ask if she wanted to grab lunch at the Subway in the Arbor - a bold move in any man's book. "I brought my own lunch," Sarah texted back, but joined him anyway to see what this chin-strapped boy was all about. Jimmy was captivated by Sarah's quick wit, contagious laughter, and bright blue eyes. Sarah with his spontaneity, confidence, and chill surfer vibe. Lunch dates turned into sunsets at Sands Beach, study breaks at Pizza My Heart, camping trips in Big Sur, and then 7 years of adventure. Jimmy got down on one knee at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco on December 12, 2020 and asked Sarah for many years more, and she said yes!
