Nantahala Outdoor Center
Brandon and Lindsey have rafted this river twice (see header pic for action shot). Guided trips available, or get a little adventurous in a single or double duckie. Make sure to go to the end for the biggest rapid! Rope courses and mountain biking also available. Small convenience store, restaurant, and retail center also on site.
Sunset Rock
Enjoy this easy hike or drive to the top for a great view. Right out of downtown Highlands!
Whiteside Mountain
Another favorite hike with a great view!
Glen Falls
Another beautiful trail to visit. Multiple levels of waterfalls and a couple places to get your feet wet. Measured from the 64/106 junction in Highlands, N.C., drive 1.6 miles south on NC 106 and turn left at the sign for the waterfall. There are two roads here. Stay right on the gravel road (Glen Falls Rd) going downhill. The road dead ends at the parking area for the hike in one mile.
Lake Glenville
Gorgeous lake with plenty to offer. Canoe, kayak, and boat rentals on site with small waterfalls around the edge. Brandon and Lindsey were canoeing on this lake when the inspiration struck to have the wedding in NC!
Highlands Aerial Park
Fun for families and kids, ziplining and canopy tours available. Don't chicken out on the longest line for a great mountain view!
Dry Falls
Easy walk down wooden stairs to the waterfall. Bring a rain jacket to walk on the trail behind the water! Located about 3 miles north of Highlands on Highway 64.
