How We Met

December 15, 2015

There was an improbable chance that Dorothy and I would ever cross paths and meet each other. We lived in different cities, had no mutual friends, and the possibility of running into each other somewhere was very low. Enter, Coffee Meets Bagel, a San Francisco based online dating app was what brought us together. We both heard of the app and decided to give it a try. Dorothy stumbled across my profile first and wasn't able to view it unless she paid an additional cost. But no way did she believe in paying $5.99!—Still curious and determined, she found a way around it, to score "coffee beans" and use it on my profile. It was worth it. We connected with each other and eventually met up for dinner at Layang Layang in Milpitas. We found out that we had a lot of similarities such as functioning as night owls, our love for dogs, and being adventurous foodies!

The Proposal

October 6, 2019

With the help of Dorothy’s friends, I had secretly been planning a surprise proposal. We made up a story for her to meet with them for a practice photo shoot at a nice place. We chose Castello di Amorosa meaning the “Castle of Love” in Napa. This place is known to be romantic, beautiful, and picturesque. We all made the long drive up north and I arrived ahead of them to set up and hide. There was no way she could have seen this coming because 1) she's gullible and 2) was helping me recover from a week long flu. We eventually found the perfect spot right outside of the castle and I hid in the vineyards until the moment came to surprise her. I bent the knee (Game of Thrones style) and popped the question. She was really surprised, happy, and most importantly said “Yes!”. Our story has continued over 7 states and 3 continents, and on August 1st 2020, as husband and wife.
