How We Met

2 . 1 . 12

Thomas and I met in math class during our spring semester at TNCC. He sat in the front of the classroom and I sat in the back. I guess you could say we both admired each other from a distance because a few weeks after classes began, this handsome man approached me and asked, “Is anyone sitting here?" I allowed him to sit beside me and from that day on, our friendship grew. Every day, I would bring snacks to share and he always accepted my offerings. Soon enough, I referred to him as ‘Math Boy’ and the nickname stuck!

The Proposal

12 . 29 . 17

We left for our baby-moon on Christmas morning; Thomas planned for us to visit his Uncle Travis and wife, Roxy in Boston, Massachusetts. I was excited because this was my first trip to Boston and upon arrival, I learned how historical and beautiful it was. Thomas arranged an overnight trip to a retro ski lodge in Vermont. We took in the breathtaking views of the snow covered mountains and visited the Von Trapp Family Lodge. We returned to Boston the next day and ventured into the city, just the two of us. It was the perfect day; we went souvenir shopping and ate lunch at Top of The Hub on the 52nd floor. The view was superb! Next, we visited the New England Aquarium and I took pictures with one of my favorite animals, the sea turtle. We strolled through Little Italy and dined at a quant Italian restaurant; we sat in a secluded corner by the window that overlooked a garden called the "Peace Garden”. The restaurant was beautifully decorated in garland and lights while Christmas music played softly in the background. We talked about our trip and discussed our future together; it was truly a romantic evening. We hailed a cab back to Travis and Roxy’s house but instead of returning to their house, Thomas asked the driver to stop elsewhere. We arrived at The Bunker Hill Monument. Thomas took my hand and guided me out of the taxi; we walked the steps all the way to the top. We took a moment together and breathed in the crisp air of a snowy Boston; we admired the beauty of the twinkling town under the star-filled sky. It was an incredible and perfect backdrop to a moment that would change our lives forever. Unexpectedly, my best friend of 6 years, dropped to one knee and presented a little black box. Thomas asked “Will you be my wife?” I was in shock and time stood still; I was truly surprised and overwhelmed. The happy tears started to flow and I answered him with a resounding, “YES!” Thank you, Roxy & Travis for making our trip extra special!

We look forward to seeing everyone on September 7th!
