We met on Hinge in 2022. Both of us downloaded the dating app for the first time and did not think anything serious would come out of it. We matched a few days after downloading the app, and after two weeks, we deleted it forever. Funnily enough, we were both so busy when we first began talking, that we we did not meet until one month later. When the day came for us to go on our first date, T.J. unfortunately got COVID. Adeline thought this was his way of telling her, "I don't want to meet you," so she told him that he did not have to use COVID as an excuse. T.J. proceeded to send Adeline a photo of his positive COVID test, saying that he did actually want to meet. Soon after their first meeting, T.J. asked Adeline if he could call her "Kuish" due to her lovable nature. Kiss + Squish = Kuish On July 4th, 2025, two days before their third year anniversary of meeting, T.J. proposed to Adeline.
Adeline wanted an intimate proposal, similar to her parents'. Both Adeline and T.J. are very social individuals, but Adeline was not very enthused about the idea of being proposed to, then immediately going into an after party. While both are blessed to be deeply loved by all their family and friends, she wanted to celebrate their engagement as just the two of them. On July 4th, T.J. and Adeline celebrated America's birthday and were setting off fireworks in the Petrosewicz's backyard. Adeline is a nurse and personally is not overly fond of setting off fireworks (having seen and heard about enough Independence Day mishaps from her ER friends), but T.J. encouraged her to get into the spirit. Adeline lit her first firework and ran back to T.J. at the sight of the first spark. When that first firework finished, T.J. asked her to light a second one. Unbeknownst to her, T.J. was planning to propose to her that very moment. His plan was: Adeline would set off the firework, turn around, and see him on one knee proposing. The second firework backfired. Instead of launching into the sky, the firework started exploding right in front of them. T.J. ushered Adeline to safety. When the second firework finished exploding, T.J. asked Adeline to set off a third and final firework. However, being the track star that she is, she had returned to him faster than he had anticipated. He did not have enough time to go down on one knee. Palms sweating, he fumbled with the ring. T.J. tried to gently nudge Adeline forward and get her attention. But rather than turning back to look at him, she was too engrossed watching the fireworks. When the last spark died out, Adeline turned around, and there T.J. was with the ring. It was a total surprise. But no one was surprised at her answer: she said yes!
The Christmas season is dear to both of our hearts, and there are two important birthdays that occur in this time. T.J.'s late grandmother, Momo, and Adeline's late grandfather, ông ngoại, have birthdays on December 5th and December 8th, respectively. Adeline and T.J. wanted to honor those who are no longer with the living with their wedding date. (Houston is also notoriously hot and humid. December will be a beautiful month to be wed).
