Flight
The airport code for Trinidad is POS but we are getting married in Tobago (airport code TAB), the neighboring island... a 25 minute flight from mainland Trinidad. There are hourly flights from Trinidad to Tobago. Be AWARE flights drop significantly in price from Boston to Trinidad in late August/early September. Our advice is to set up a price alert on Kayak to watch flight prices. For the last two years they have dropped to around $350 roundtrip at that time of year.
Rental Car
We are setting up car rentals with a local company. If you are wanting to rent a car, it is highly suggested you share this expense with another couple/individual. It is the most pricey part of the trip. Let us know if you will be sharing with other people and we can help organize.
House Or Rental
It is optimal that guests should stay on the eastern side of the island closest to Parlatuvier. We will be renting an entire compound and family and friends will be welcome to come and go. However, for your own lodging is it suggested to couple up and share larger homes with other guests. We can help facilitate this home sharing once we have our RSVP list. All accommodation is self catering, great for cost!
Travel Note
Tobago is an english speaking country, but they do drive on the other side of the road. Be aware that this is not your typical tourist Caribbean island, the amenities for our wedding will be minimal. We are looking to stay true to the raw, jungle experience we had when we first visited. You will need to exchange US dollars for the local currency, but you won't need a visa to travel to Tobago. The overall expectation is to have a fun and relaxed celebration with a lot of rum punch and a lot of dancing!
