What documentation do I need to enter Scotland?

Answer

Aside from your passport, please note that the United Kingdom now requires all travelers from the United States to apply for an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA.) The process is simple and fast, but is REQUIRED. A LINK TO THIS FORM IS LOCATED UNDER THE "TRAVEL" TAB ON OUR WEBSITE.

How do we get to the castle?

Answer

The address to the castle is as follows; Beattock, Moffat DG10 9SH, United Kingdom. It is roughly one hour away from Edinburgh Airport and Glasgow Airport. The drive is mostly highway once you are outside of Edinburgh/Glasgow.

Do I need to rent a car?

Answer

Totally optional. Please note that in Scotland, you will be driving on the opposite side of the car, as well as the opposite side of the road. If you do not feel comfortable driving, you do have the option to taxi from the airport. We do have one event (golfing) arranged that takes place outside of the castle where you would need some method of transportation if you plan to attend (taxis are an option, of course!) Otherwise, all scheduled events take place at the castle or already have a shuttle arranged. We assume you plan to travel around and explore on your own at some point, but how you decide to do that is entirely your decision. If you need any assistance or have any questions regarding transportation, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.

What is the weather like?

Answer

Scotland is UNRELIABLE, but it's best to plan for some rain and temperatures between 60-65°F.

How many nights can we stay at the castle?

Answer

We have rooms booked at the castle from August 3rd until the check out date of August 7th. We must vacate the castle no later than 10:00am on August 7th.
