Our First Date

earth day, waterfalls, and silence

we knew from our first date...but we didn't know the other knew too. first stop was smoothies - what would become a staple for us. we headed to cloudland canyon state park for an early evening hike. the weather had just become nice enough to enjoy. hiking down, chatting, laughing, playing. we felt like little kids again. arriving at the waterfall, we found a nice rock and had a sit. and we sat in silence, comfortable silence. like a peace we had been missing with only the sound of falling water. that's how we knew. not until later on, when we talked about our first date, did we realize that in that moment we both felt the same way - a heartwarming revelation. it was magic.

Proposal Day

horse rides, two lunches, swimmies, fine dining

clueless and forgetful, a perfect match. the setting is daybreak in Santorini. our day began early, no time for breakfast. one of us loves horses, one of us does not love horses. so we went on a horse ride. dirt roads, through vineyards, to the beach, across a rocky shore. it was lovely and it was slow. very slow for hungry stomachs. the drop off point was at a cafe: pizza and pastries. of course we ate outside. next stop, lunch again. immediately we walked to a nearby restaurant for more filling entrees: gyros, fries, falafel, tzatziki. both lunches were delicious. ya know what they say, do go swimming after a big meal. private pool and an hour to spare. views of the agean sea, the calderra, and a bright sun. now off to our first fine dining experience. what to wear? sky is clueless...josh is going to propose at dinner. the food is amazing. small portions - good thing we ate two lunches. we sat on a terrace overlooking the sunset, a perfect scene. josh forgot the ring. we ate gelato and waited for the taxi. arriving home, we rolled the camera for some photos. josh had snuck inside to get the ring. twirling, smiling, giggling, josh got down on one knee. disbelief and pure excitement. it was the most wonderful day.
