The two first met within a few weeks into the fall of Kayla's freshman and Brian's sophomore year at Campbell University. They didn't become friends until the next semester when they shared the same English and History classes.
At the end of March 2015, Brian asked Kayla out for their first date. He planned it of all days on April Fools Day. Kayla had to double-check and make sure he wasn't kidding about asking her out.
Not sure what the two were thinking then, but looks like they made the right choice. Brian & Kayla spent the rest of their college days together enjoying time with friends, meeting family, and supporting each other in their sport.
2.5 years & 4 stops later! After spending practically all of college together, Brian graduated in December 2017 and moved to Gainesville, FL to start his career as a football strength and conditioning intern at the University of Florida. Both of them wanted to pursue a career in college athletics and supported each other while apart. In May 2018, Kayla graduated from CU and went on later that fall to coach volleyball at Virginia Tech. Meanwhile, Brian moved to Connecticut to pursue his Master's degree at Sacred Heart University. While Brian was working at SHU in 2019, Kayla moved to Kentucky to coach at Eastern Kentucky University and pursue her Master's degree.
After graduating from SHU in May 2020, Brian moved back home and started working as a strength coach for Campbell. Shortly after in August, Kayla was offered the Assistant Volleyball Coach position at Campbell. So August 2020 marked the end of long-distance for the two and they started to build their lives together.
Brian popped the question at St. Augustine Beach, FL surprising Kayla with her closest family & friends to share their special moment.
