On the third day of college after nervously asking a very realistic statue outside of EHall for directions, I turned around ran into Evan. After realizing he was going to the same class as me, we figured out where to go and then walked awkwardly to the building together. At the beginning of this small lab class, the professor announced to the class that many years ago in the same class and classroom as a UW freshman she met her now husband and that the same thing could happen to us. But as the semester progressed it didn't seem like that was happening for anyone in that class, so I never thought much of it again. Fast forward to senior year on Chasers patio: Syd and I are talking to two new friends (Joe and Hunter) about which song they would pick for their MMA walk up, because Abby ran into one of their friends (Evan) from her volunteer bus trip. I made my way over to them because I knew that I recognized Evan (and he was cute). Later that night I did some sleuthing and found him on Facebook. I sent him a friend request and the rest is history ;) We are so excited to celebrate with you! Check out the rest of the page for any details you need or as always feel free to reach out to either of us!
A group of friends and I were out at the bars one weekend when we decided to go to Chasers. We grabbed some drinks and found a spot on the patio to hang out. Not long after we got there I saw Abby (Hoover) walk in. Abby and I had a lot of mutual friends so she walked over to say hi and her group of friends followed. To my surprise Jess was one of them. After taking a few minutes to calm my nerves I reintroduced myself to Jess. I say reintroduced because we had a class together freshman year. I had introduced her to the class as a part of an ice breaker exercise where you introduce the person next to you to along with where they are from and a fun fact about them to the rest of the class. I assumed she remembered me that night, so when she didn't seem to recognize my name I said “you're Jess Zola, you are from Minnesota and you ski.” Jess looked a little surprised and uncomfortable. I had to explain that we were in the same class freshman year and I wasn't some stalker. That was enough to jog her memory and we talked for a while until I was unexpectedly pulled away. One of my friends “almost” threw up in the bar and was being kicked out by the bouncer. They were way too drunk to get back to their apartment on their own so I had to help them home. Now allegedly I said “goodbye” to Jess three separate times on my way out but that seems a little over the top. Later that night, I was kicking myself for not getting her number. But really what were the chances she was interested in me? She didn't recognize me at first and we only talked for a little while at the bar. It was probably too soon to be that forward. But I knew she was friends with Abby so I was hoping to see Jess around again. And then… I got a friend request on Facebook. It was from Jess! I accepted it and sent her a message. “It was great to see you Saturday night, sorry I had to leave all of a sudden!” - Evan Before I even sent the message I had decided that as long as her response was more then one word I was going to ask her on a date. Her response ended with “... it was really great running into you :)” We went on a date the following Wednesday night and the rest is history!
