Our Story

Some say they are a perfect match, others a match made in heaven. We are scientifically proven to be a match — according to Hinge. Our story began with a swipe followed by a month-long wait for a response. Fang forgot he had messaged Natasha until one day, in late November 2022, she finally replied. The conversation just flowed from there. After chatting for only 24 hours, Fang asked Natasha to a coffee date (little did he know, she doesn’t drink coffee). Being the gentleman that he is, Fang volunteered to meet Natasha near her apartment in Quincy, MA, and asked her to recommend a good local spot. Being the coffee connoisseur that she is, Natasha suggested a cute place in Quincy, MICHIGAN, after a brief Google search. Fortunately for the couple, Natasha suggested more than one place, so Fang picked one that was actually in the Bay State. What Fang expected to be a low-commitment, hour-long first date over coffee lasted close to three hours, ending only because Natasha had to go to work. We both agreed to get together again, soon. Our third date was… bold. We decided to go to IKEA to pick up a chair for Natasha and build it together. Natasha joked that Fang must be in it for the long haul if he’s willing to assemble furniture with her. Little did she know, that would be true. Early in the relationship, Natasha and Fang would take turns making the long commute through Boston to spend time at each other’s place. After Natasha became the hockey athletic trainer at Bentley University, she quickly grew tired of the hour-plus commute and the lack of A/C and heat in her apartment. So, she began spending more time at Fang’s. By April of 2024, Natasha had practically moved into Fang’s apartment, often spending a week at his place before going home to do laundry and repack for the next week. Naturally, we wanted to (officially) move in together. We found the perfect apartment in Waltham, MA, and, with the help of our parents, moved into our new place in Summer 2024. As engagement posts appeared one after another in her social media feed, Natasha was not shy about pointing out her thoughts on ring designs. In turn, Fang was not shy about taking her to the mall for some jewelry store window-shopping. Fang had planned to pop the question after the end of Bentley’s hockey season, but as momentum carried the team all the way to the national tournament (thanks to such a great athletic trainer), he could wait no longer. Unbeknownst to Natasha, on March 18, 2025, Fang had a diamond in his pocket as they left for what seemed to be an ordinary dinner date night in Boston’s North End. Natasha was oblivious despite many clues, not even suspicious as they were led into a private room for two. She finally caught on when she raised her glass to say cheers, and Fang interrupted with, “Wait, I have something for us to toast to.” That is when he reached into his pocket, got on one knee, and asked Natasha if she would spend the rest of her life with him. And so the rest is history! P.S. If anyone has been to the Refuge Coffee House in Quincy, MI, we would love to hear about your experience!
