The Beginning

6/8/2015

We met in Summer 2014 at Freshman PRIDE training, then continued to be friends when we had AP Calculus together. We finally went on our first date in April 2015 -- We went to Glo-Golf, but couldn't fathom saying goodbye to each other, so we walked around Party City, Twelve Oaks Mall, and then went to lunch at Kirby's Coney Island. After that, we went on many more dates before Zack asked me to prom (with a volleyball that said " I really 'dig' you, I'd love to 'set' up a date for us to Prom"). We started officially dating a couple weeks after that!

The In-Between

High school, college, long distance, first house, and a dog!

The highlights: In 2015, we started dating & I started my freshman year at EMU. In November, Zack was accepted into NYU, to start next fall. We hadn’t been dating for very long, so we were realistic about how our relationship might change (or end) if we attempted long distance. In 2016, we made the most of Zack’s senior year of high school until it was time to drop him off in NYC. Long story short, we became closer than ever while dating long distance, and I’m so grateful we endured it (but would prefer to never do it again, lol). In 2017, Zack made the decision to transfer home to U of M - Dearborn. We both lived at home while finishing up our Bachelor’s degrees for the next several years. We also traveled all over Michigan in 2017, which sparked our love and appreciation for our home state. In 2018, we embarked on a New England Road Trip. First stop: Acadia National Park! We only spent 2 days here, and ever since then we’ve been trying to make it back to visit. We also visited Boston, Cape Cod, and Rhode Island on our trip. In 2019, Zack graduated from U of M - Dearborn with his Bachelors. He then joined me at EMU for his Masters while working full time. We took a trip to the Upper Peninsula with our friend, Alyssa, to celebrate Zack’s graduation. 2020 was a huge year for us. Amidst the beginning of the pandemic, I graduated with my Bachelors and Masters. We also had to cancel our trip to Acadia, which we had planned for April after I graduated. We also adopted our first dog, Charlie, and bought our first house in Clawson! 2021 was focused on settling into the big life changes that 2020 brought. We started small house projects, I focused on making our house the coziest place to be, and we worked on training Charlie to be the best pup. And towards the end of the year, in October, we got engaged! The years just keep getting better and better together. I can’t wait for what 2022 holds!

The Proposal

10/23/2021

After many months of me pestering Zack about proposing (I knew he had the ring, because I’m the one who designed it!), he finally proposed on October 23, 2021! While I was making dinner, Zack secretly set up string lights and a fire outside. He took me out there, and after sitting around the fire talking and roasting s’mores on kitchen forks for a couple of hours, he asked me to marry him!

The Wedding

10/12/2022

We tied the knot at Otter Point in Acadia National Park on October 12, 2022 with a select few family and friends by our sides. As you know, we’re introverted people, and never really liked the idea of a traditional, large wedding (Center of attention? Large group of people? No thanks). The day ended up being absolutely perfect! But, we did miss celebrating with our larger group of family and friends, and we can't wait to see you in August!
