The Wedding Website of Michael Schuller and Sara De La Hoz
Cartagena is a city full of color, warmth, and charm, and we can’t wait for you to see why it means so much to us. Here’s everything you need to know for a weekend filled with sunshine, history, and celebration.

Flight

Getting to Cartagena

Most guests will arrive at Rafael Núñez International Airport (CTG) — just 15 minutes from Cartagena’s historic walled city. We recommend booking flights early, as January is a popular travel month. Direct flights are often available from Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Atlanta, and New York.

Where To Stay

We recommend staying in or near the San Diego neighborhood, inside Cartagena’s historic Walled City — a vibrant and elegant area filled with colonial charm, colorful balconies, and cobblestone streets. All hotels listed below are within walking distance of our wedding venues. Hotel Suggestions: *Hotel Casa del Arzobispado – classic and elegant, a quiet oasis with colonial character. *Townhouse Boutique Hotel – vibrant, stylish, and fun, with a rooftop bar and great atmosphere. More hotel details and potential room blocks will be shared closer to the date.

Transportation

Cartagena is easy to navigate, and most of our wedding events will be within walking distance, allowing you to enjoy the city's colorful streets, historic architecture, and coastal charm on foot. For transportation, we recommend using Uber, which is affordable, convenient, and widely available throughout the city. For added security, Uber now offers a PIN verification feature, requiring riders to provide a unique code before the trip begins, helping ensure you're getting into the correct vehicle and making the experience even smoother. Tip: Always confirm your driver's name, vehicle, and license plate before entering, and enjoy the ocean breeze along the way!

Travel Note

Weather & What to Pack

January is one of Cartagena’s most beautiful months — warm, tropical, and breezy, around 85°F (29°C) during the day. Pack light, breathable fabrics, comfortable shoes for cobblestone streets, and sunscreen. For the wedding weekend, think elegant tropical style — soft tones, light fabrics, and timeless sophistication.
