It all started with a right swipe on Bumble in 2022. Both new to Fort Myers, we spent about a month chatting before finally meeting in person. For our first date, Michael invited me to dinner in downtown Fort Myers — Mexican food and lots of laughter. I was secretly sad we didn’t finish all the guacamole (but of course, I couldn’t say “let’s take it to go” on a first date ). After dinner, we watched the sunset and had drinks on a rooftop — and from that day on, everything just felt easy. A few Sundays later, over burgers and ice cream, Michael asked me to date him. I tried to play it cool and said, “I would like to date slowly,” but let’s just say… the rest is history. Now, every Sunday, we still keep our little tradition of burgers, ice cream, — our sweet reminder of how it all began.
I grew up in the vibrant and romantic city of Cartagena, Colombia—a place filled with color, music, and meaning. When Michael proposed to me there, it felt like life came full circle. Choosing Cartagena for our wedding was natural, and we hope our guests feel the warmth, culture, and magic of the city that shaped me and now holds our love story.
Before we ever met, Michael visited Cartagena in 2019 without knowing that a few years later, he’d be marrying someone who called this city home. In 2024, after I had been away for almost four years, we traveled to Cartagena together for the first time. It was such a special milestone for us; we surprised my parents, and Michael finally got to experience my culture, my family, and the place that shaped who I am.
