The Meeting

We met on Match.com in October 2015 - despite Bob’s terrible profile pictures! After a couple of days chatting on the dating site we met at Thirty-thirty Coffee, talking until they closed, then kept the converstaion going at Ulrich’s. Despite having good conversational skills, there were definitely no sparks initially. In fact, it took about 2.5 months of weekly dates before we finally decided we actually liked each other! One night, right before Christmas, things finally clicked into place and suddenly neither of us had ever been so happy! In the years since, both of us have admitted we were planning to break things off after the holidays. Thankfully something intervened to keep that from happening! We have so much love for each other and look forward to the years to come as we navigate life together.

The Proposal

10-21-2019

We went on a Southern Caribbean cruise with Bob’s friend Peter (the best man) and his family. On the first formal night we went downstairs for pictures and when it was our turn... As told by her... Things were a little strange right from the start because Peter kept asking where we wanted our pictures taken since there were many different stations to choose from. I said it didn’t matter that much let’s just go to the first one. When Bob and I walked up he said I was standing on the wrong side and I was confused because I didn’t think it mattered. As soon as we switched sides I heard him say something about a new adventure and I thought why would standing on the other side of me be an adventure?? I turned to give him a weird look and found him down on one knee with the ring. Although we had picked out the ring together 6 months prior, I was still so shocked I couldn’t do anything but stand there with a huge smile and my hand over my mouth. After a few seconds I finally got it together enough to laugh and say “yes” in an isn’t-it-obvious tone. They claimed those few seconds were very long and Bob even said he wasn’t sure I was going to say yes. Seriously?! As told by him... As we got situated for photos I told her I was hoping, as we embark on this latest adventure, that she would want to embark on another with me as I got on one knee. Unfortunately I was a tad nervous and spoke too quickly before she had a chance to catch up with what was happening so she kind of missed the speech part (oops). She didn’t have a clue it was coming so she was in shock for a little bit after. It took her what seemed like forever to say “yes” but it was probably only a second or two. I’m glad she didn’t see it coming, makes it more special in my mind. What we all can agree on (and laugh about) is that for about 30 minutes after, all Brandi could say was “ok”. Luckily Peter had told the photographer what was about to happen so we have some really great pictures to look back on.
