Saint Isadore & Saint Maria
As we prepare for the sacrament of marriage, we ask for the prayers and intercession of Saint Isidore the Farmer and Saint Maria de la Cabeza. Their marriage was rooted in humility, faith, charity, and devotion to God through everyday life. Saint Isidore worked faithfully as a humble laborer outside of Madrid, known for stopping often to pray and trusting God completely in both work and hardship. Together, Isidore and Maria cared deeply for the poor and those in need, living out a beautiful example of selfless love and service within marriage. We pray that their example inspires our own relationship — that our home may always be filled with faith, generosity, patience, and love for one another and for those around us. We kindly ask for your prayers as we begin this vocation together and strive to build a marriage centered on Christ.
Prayer of the Vocation of Marriage
Heavenly Father, through the intercession of the Holy Family, help us treasure the gift of marriage that reflects the love of Christ for the Church, where the self-giving love of husband and wife unites them more perfectly and cooperates in your plan for new life created in your image. Help us support men and women in their vocation of marriage, especially in difficult times when they join their sufferings to the Cross. Help us uphold the institution of marriage in our society as the place where love is nurtured and family life begins. Help us acknowledge that our future depends on this love and your providential care for us. Amen
