...now we here! Despite both growing up in Saratoga and going to the same schools, Kathryn and John never crossed paths until 2020. Due to COVID, Kathryn was temporarily living at home with her parents. Out one night with mutual friends, Kathryn and John formally met in downtown Saratoga. Then, as any modern love story now begins, a DM was exchanged that started it all (we'll let you guess who DM'ed who first). Kathryn & John started dating in the next year...right before Kathryn was moving back to New York City. John had only been to the city a few times before and claimed he hated it – but they decided to take a chance and commit to long distance. After his first visit to NYC, John's opinion completely changed. They continued to do long distance and only ever spent at maximum 2 weeks apart. After doing long distance for a year, Kathryn moved back to Saratoga Springs where she and John moved into their first apartment together in early June 2022. On Traver's in late August, John tricked Kathryn into thinking they were having their friends over for a pre-party before the big race. John pulled off the biggest (and best!) surprise and proposed that morning!
