The closest beach to The Hills St. John. Soft sand beach and plenty of shade under the sea grapes that line the water. Depending on the tide, Hawksnest can be a very narrow beach - so grab your sun early and enjoy the shade later in the day. Because of its orientation, Hawksnest isn’t as protected as some of the other beaches - so expect a bit of surf.
Named 2024 No. 1 Best Beach in the World. St. John’s most famous beach is also one of the most photographed beaches in the USVI. Over a quarter mile of beautiful white sand makes this the showpiece beach of the Nation Park Service. Enjoy the self-guided Underwater Snorkeling Trail; with underwater information about coral formations and sea life. Facilities include a snack bar/grill, snorkel gear and beach chair rentals, showers, restrooms, and lifeguards. Please note: Trunk Bay is the only St. John beach that charges an entrance fee: $5/person. *Parking lot available; however, parking is VERY limited. Plan to get to the beach early or take a taxi.
Longest beach on St. John - 1/2 mile of soft, white sand beach. Snorkelers can explore the small cay located less than 100 yards off the shoreline. With the shallow water entry, Cinnamon Bay makes a great destination for relaxation. Facilities include a snack shop, showers, and restrooms, as well as a small souvenir shop.
Want to see sea turtles? This is the spot! A shallow entry with seagrass bottom makes for the perfect spot to see the sea turtles and sting rays. Remember, please DO NOT TOUCH them. The protected bay keeps its waters exceptionally calm year round - perfect for paddleboarding and kayaking. Across the street there are food, drinks, shopping and watersports equipment.
The Lind Point Trail is a fairly easy path that leads to the Salomon Bay and Honeymoon Bay Beach (where we got engaged!!!!) The trailhead is behind Cruz Bay Visitor Center, at the foot of some wooden stairs. You’ll see that it is clearly marked with signage. It can be tricky to find parking there, as most spots are reserved for employees, but simply head into the Visitor Center and ask for a free pass. The trail is approximately a 2 mile loop and takes about 40-60 minutes.
Reef Bay is one of the most well-known St John hiking trails. You need to commit at least a half day to this five mile hike, but it makes for a memorable experience exploring Virgin Islands National Park. The hike begins with a descent into a valley towards Reef Bay Beach on St John’s south shore. Along the way, you’ll pass by plantation ruins, ancient rock carvings, and plenty of nature. Prepare for a great glute workout and do not wear flip flops.
A floating taco bar accessible by boat only. If you have the time, we highly suggest checking this place out! Some of the best tacos we have had - EVER. Plan to spend 2-3 hours there and everything you bring WILL GET WET. You will need to get into the water so be prepared for a truly unique experience! - There are many great charter companies offering all varieties of ways to access it. Right in Coral Harbor, there are shuttles including SALT + LIME express, Flyaway Charters VI, and Captain Johnny Cakes. There is also a dinghy rental which allows you to explore the greater Coral Bay area as well as have lunch!
Casual & cheap spot with the absolute BEST burger on the island! We love playing darts here!
A hole in the wall & quintessential tiny dive bar of the town. Located directly across from Tap & Still, you can't miss it and you definitely shouldn't. Fun spot for later in the evening, but also a great spot for an extremely casual lunch or dinner.
One of our go to hang outs - day or night. Best spot for casual drinks, nightlife & live music on the beach - say no more. **Happy Hour everyday 3pm - 7pm. Get the cheesy beach balls!**
One of our favorite restaurants on the island. Prix Fixe Tasting Menu is $100/person. Bar seating is available with the option to order a la carte. You may also make reservations for the bar to secure your spot!
Another one of our favorite restaurants. Owned by Chef Vincent Alterio who trained in Michelin star kitchens of New York City and Chicago. Food is top notch and truly one of the best meals we've ever had. Would highly recommend making a reservation here.
The best view on the island. We suggest going for sunset. Despite the crowd, the views are worth it! Grab a drink & some small bites and enjoy the live music.
