We can't wait to celebrate with you and are so thankful to be surrounded by family and friends from near and far. We appreciate all of the love, support, encouragement, and wisdom you bring. Thank you for being part of our lives and sharing this moment with us! Please RSVP by August 1, 2019.
R: I had been living in Kalamazoo and attending Western Michigan University since 2014, and David moved to Kzoo to plant North Pines Church in 2016 to reach college students like me. We first met at the sand volleyball courts on WMU's campus on September 15, 2016, where I also met some of my closest friends today! We didn't get acquainted until I got plugged into the church and started attending the same small group as David. There was something about David that caught my eye early on (I confessed this to my friend Dawn sometime around November 2016) but we stayed friends until around March 2018.
R: After being friends for about a year and a half, I felt like God put David on my heart again like the way He did back in 2016. I hinted a few times that we should hang out, and we finally got coffee in March 2018 and talked for HOURS about how Jesus saved us and all that He's done in us. After a few more weeks of unsuccessful hinting, I finally confessed my interest and feelings to David, and he turned an unprecedented shade of red. Over the next 3 months, we kept in touch and shared our love for Jesus, coffee, and the outdoors as we built our friendship and prayed about pursuing a potential relationship. Then, one summer night in June, we took a walk at Woods Lake and decided to make it official.
D: Plans for a trip to the Upper Peninsula and Chicago came together shortly before I received the ring in the mail, and decided that I wanted to propose on our way up to Ishpeming. A love of nature has been something we've bonded over in our relationship, so I decided that one of the nature spots we planned to stop at on the way would be the best place to ask her. Not one for planning, I decided to make the decision for which spot as we went. I finally decided that when we stopped at Munising Falls, I would ask. Another element of our relationship is that we've written many notes and letters to each other, so I had written out a note to give to her that expressed love and excitement for a future together. We walked up to the falls and, after giving her the note, I rather sheepishly got down on one knee and asked her to marry me. R: After accidentally seeing a text from David's mom about a "beautiful ring," I was on edge, expecting a proposal for several weekends. I tried to play it cool and not expect anything, but when we got to the U.P. I had been hoping that this was the week! When we got to Munising Falls, I had a gut feeling that it was coming... and pretended not to notice that David was looking around for a place to pop the question. The place was perfect, his handwritten note was the sweetest, and of course I SAID YES! The Big Day is on September 1, 2019... one year after telling each other "I love you."
